Hi guys. I'm looking at fitting some Ohlins forks toy 749s 2005. Does anyone know the yoke sizes. I'm sure the top yoke is 53mm but unsure about the bottom. The forks are a pair of Ohlins FG8910 forks from my 2003 999S. 53 and 56 mm
I've got a bottom yoke from an early 749S it's 53mm, I think only the 749R had 56mm Ohlins as standard
I am interested in this as it may be something I would consider my self at a later stage,, I believe only the 749 r and the 999 has the ohlin forks , so would it be poss / ness to fit the yolks from the 999 onto the 749 along with the forks,, would the fr wheel also be required to fit the spindle and brake assembly.. anyone
If it's a frame with the adjustable headstock then yes interchangeable, don't know about disc offset doubt you'll need to change the wheel might need to add a spacer.
I think this might not be worth all the effort to insert these forks. I think I'll just send my current ones to Richard Adams at Maxton. Jobs a good un
yep I don't think it is just a case of swapping the forks accross,, I suspect everything would be needed from the forks, bars , yolks, all the brake set up since they are diff and surely half the reason for doing it anyway, and maybe even the hub and wheel,, certainly a complete swap would seem to be best /easiest way of doing it,, I imagine not a cheap venture but well worth the effort / expense....
I was wondering about boring out but without the items to check I was unsure,, but when the whole job is considered and priced that is just a small saving. I imagine the major stumbling block is the bottom brake calliper fitting on the fork which is totally diff arrangement ( sorry don't know what that bit is called )
The brakes are 65 mm caliper spacing so should be the same p4 calipers. The bars are 53 mm so the should fit as the top yoke will too. What I don't know is the wheel spacing and axle / spindle.
Should just be bottom yoke swap and rest as is. Ala most if not all ducati models where an r/S with ohlins was on sale
DUCATI 999R OHLINS BILLET BOTTOM YOKE 916 996 998 748 749S 999 1098 1198 | eBay Ducati Billet Ohlins yoke. These are like what came with my R&T Ohlins for my 916.
Yep, I think I paid £1700 for my FG43 R&T from HM. They came with that yoke, so taking 2nd hand values I'd agree they were overpriced. £300 would be fairer.
( 749s is not Ohlin ) so is it just the stantion that is thicker on the Ohlins and the fork ( slidey bit ) is the same 43 mm ?
The R is so I'd guess (dont know) its same as 916, 999, 1098 in just bottom yoke change as top yoke same, so yes i reckon its the stancion not the slider. But as said above you can get the original altered to make fit Or just add ohlines or ktech kit which is better anyway
