You Don't Know What You're Missing.

  1. image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Today was sunny, so I popped out for a ride on my ST4.
I thought I'd post a few pics. Empty roads and just a T shirt under my jacket.
Better than an English summer day because there was almost no traffic.

Tight roads at first, then onto a real peachy blaster. The A-356 Valez-Malaga to Colmenar.
So good I turned around and went back again, past the reservoir at Vinuela.

As I approached Los Castillejos there's a lovely right hand sweeping bend, on the opposite side is a restaurant. About 10 guys on trial bikes stood outside with their helmets on. It looked like an organised tour, they must have been having fun. I know I was.

They turned and looked up early as the roar of the Termignonis announced my arrival. I was hanging off the right side of the bike with my knee out but I took my left hand off the bar and gave them a wave. Every one of them waved back.

Lou Reed came to mind, "Just a perfect day."

  2. Had the same sort of weather at the Circuito de Almeria, so I do know what they are missing. Andy

  3. I knew someone would say 'they did know' and I'm glad. I posted it up because it's too good to miss.
It's cheap as chips to get out here at this time of year and it's easy. Menu of the day €8, that's 3 courses for a fiver! What's not to like?

Hope your hand gets better. Almeria sounds great fun. Don't tempt me. I'm booked for my first one at Donnington. Praying it doesn't rain.

  4. I stayed in a villa not too far from where your first photo was taken. It was quite near Antequera. I wasn't on my bike though. I'm quite envious. Enjoy.

  5. I'm hoping to arrange a trip there. Deciding whether to fly and hire bikes or ride there.

  6. Just seen this. When are you going? It can be really cold going over the high areas north of Madrid.
It's a great ride down though.

Tough decision, depends how long you've got I suppose.

  7. Sam do you live down that way then?

  8. I'm aiming to go around this time next year really (think I've just about booked all my boys trip passes up for this year).
I'll probably be flying down and hiring as will only have a week or so I imagine.

  9. I live in London but my brother number2 lives 1hr east of Malaga. It's a shame not to go there, sunny n cheap as chips.

On the way back now with bro number 4.

  10. Looks great Sam.

  11. Sam, I rent a place in Torrox and know those roads well. Don't get down there on my MTS very often though, but one day it'll be my back yard. As you say, it's motorcycling heaven.

    Cheers

  12. Torrox, just down the road. Lots of good rides in the area. Fantastic empty roads and even more when you go east to the Sierra Nevada.

    Isaachunt:
Flying is good, quick, cheap off season and easy. Or catch the ferry to Santander and spend a few fantastic days getting down there.
