I used to drag the cases on a badly cambered road But I can tell you from experince on both bikes, the GS (pre watercooled, no idea if later one better) cant cope with the stress of track riding as well as the multi. And the multi only copes up to a point...it doesnt like body movement and isnt too keen on quick direction changes. The gs just swallows up body movement (it wallows anyway!) but also cant manage quick direction changes
Best scratching bike I ever had was a really well set up Honda 900 FZ (Konis, damper, box section swinging arm etc) Handling mods are so last century though!
My experience riding GSes is limited to two unbelievably fully laden, 3.000-mile plus Pacific Coastal Highway jaunts, when scratching wasn't really on the agenda, so I shouldn't really comment. Just speculating ... as an opportunity to post some Multi pics.
Agree to a point...esp when suspension is fully loaded Tbh I loved my Gs and would have another. Until I bought the multi, as what the GS lacked the multi has: lots more power and on the road enough chassis to keep up with non-TT speed rides. And you can, just, trackday it
Not really fair to compare a hire bike with a much-loved steed, or a demo, but I was going to buy a GS until my first trip, after which I came back test rode and immediately bought a Multi. And as a Multi wasn't available for the second trip, I was forced to hire another GS, the shortcomings of which, vis a vis my bike, were all too apparent. Still a great bike though. That was in 2011 however. Perhaps later incarnations are even better?
Never really liked either but I guess you can do most things with the correct skill set and big balls...
I tend to still be stupid with an air of unsurpassed eloquence and a smidging of perfection at times albeit with little 'control' - OK-ish on the bike though
The days when I remove my brain and replace it with a pork chop before going out for a ride with upwards of half a dozen mates are long gone, thankfully. Survived them virtually unscathed (only to end up in a three-week coma at the age of 26 when I crashed a car into a tree after skidding on black ice on Christmas Eve).
