Zxr-400

  1. Random.

This was my Kawasaki ZXR-400 that I had a while back. I think that I got it in my head to get something a bit smaller than bikes I had in the past. I bought it new from a Kwacker dealer in Bristol that no longer exist. I think that buying a kawasaki got me free (or cheap) entry to a track day, run by Roger Burnett at Castle Combe. This was when track days were just starting out.

It was a great day out, where I could take the piss out of big bike on the bends, while getting swallowed up on the straights. It was fast and light - about 120 from memory? Castle Combe is a really fast track that needs a 750 or above, really.

  2. I’ve had two, super little bikes. I watch the new ones with interest, but I’m not sure if they would have the same feel

  3. I love that Kawasaki have brought the 400 back, from the reviews I’ve seen the new one is a screamer that needs winding up but then I seem to remember all my 400s were a bit like that back in the day.

  4. Love a zxr. Constant search on eBay history. Had a red-purple ZX7R paint scheme one

  5. This was mine

The new one is popping up a lot at places like BEMSEE race meets and they are cool, but the feedback is that the chassis is a touch soft to be a real scalpel, that said they are quite light, so I guess it doesn’t push the chassis as much.

  6. There’s a cheap race bike with v5 on FB right now….

  7. haha no such thing as a cheap race bike!! Just cheap entry! especially those in race trim they have had a HARD life!

I always wanted a RVF400, when I had my zxr400 I just loved the RVF, but apart from the sound of the V4, the ZXR was the one to have

  8. My uncle had the NC30 and I had zxr and used to ride his frequently. While the v4 whine was additive, the handling, braking, general rideability was terrible compared to my zxr.

  9. yep, awful wooden brakes, dead steering feel with a weird self entering feeling, weird rear prolink thing that as soon as you used rear brake it pulled the rear down and lastly stupid 18 inch rear wheel. It just wasn’t a great bike, the zxr just always felt more modern.

  10. I never got on with the Nc30 either, always felt like the rear was leading the front. My cbr400 and zxr were much better bikes

  11. I also keep looking at baby blades. They look so much smaller and fun.

  15. Best handling bike I’ve ever had was the cbr400 Nc23, I had a few of those and they are amazing. I also had a Nc29 which is the later one and it was good but not as good as the 23. I always keep a look out for another one.

  16. Yeah bud, ring me tomorrow if you want the details
