Hello Guys, My 2011 Multi 1200 S is due a 30,000 mile service soon. I was wondering on peoples thoughts or experiances about people getting it done at their local bike garage as opposed to a Ducati Dealer given the cost. Cheers.
If you can get word of mouth high quality recommendations for a local independent then do it. Not so many in Iraq I'd guess.
30,000 miles is a Desmo Service so includes belt change and valve clearance check / adjust. I'd be more than happy (in fact I'd probably prefer) to take it to an independent specialising in or with experience of Ducati. Wouldn't take to any old "local bike garage" if they don't have relevant Ducati experience, apart from anything else they won't be able to reset the service reminder. I reduced the cost by doing some of the easy stuff like oil & filter, air filter, brake pads etc. myself and getting the dealer to do the belts and valve clearances.
Depends on where in the UK you are. There are several very good independents who will do a first rate job for less than an authorised dealer. Andy
Where are you and the bike based? We all have a favourites. Down South these include Louigi Moto // Ducati Specialists Ducati Motorcycles Alton | W M Snell Ducati Dealers - Family owned since 1961 Moto Rapido Ducati Dealer in Hampshire Other Ducati specialists exist I'm still looking for this garage.
Hello mate, over in Hereford so Riders are the most local dealers. My local garage is an aprilia specialist so may give him a shout. Thanks.
lol, yeah I took my R1 to that garage once for an MOT, it was rubbish there was no viewing area. Reminds me of a guy I worked with, he used to go to a topless hair dressers, he couldn't get out of the chair for 10 mins after she had finished, I never understood it he was almost bald.
After mine and my mates experiences with Riders, I'd give them a miss if I was you. What a bunch of incompetents.
