1199 2016 1199 S

  1. Hello all, I have tried to find this info online, but nothing comes up of any use
    I'm very interested in a 2016 1199s that's come up for sale
Has the 2016 model changed a great deal since 2012?
    Thanks in advance

  2. The 1199S went out of production after 2014. In 2015 it was replaced with the 1299S. Who is trying to sell a 2016 1199S to you?

  3. It's a very big difference as said. It changed to the bigger displacement 1299S in 2015. Main difference other than the engine size is it has event based suspension as opposed to the electronically adjustable on the 1199S. As an all round bike it's definitely more desirable as the bigger displacement calms it down a bit on the road whereas the 1199 is a little too racey for some.

  4. As has been said, the 1199 was superceded by the 1299 in 2015 so there is no such animal as a 2016 spec 1199. What you most likely have is either old stock that had been sitting around for 2 years or it was bought in 2014 and not registered for the road until 2016. I have recently seen bikes being bought for track use and not registered at point of sale. Doesn't mean it'll be bad, you just need to be sure about the history. A quick check on the Ducati bike spec archive, the later bike appears to be 2kg heavier than the 2012 model. Andy

  6. The actual year of registration is irrelevant, it's the date of purchase that is more important. If it was bought in 2014, the Ducati warranty will have expired and time related service requirements will need to have been completed. IMO the asking price is a little high if it's a private sale as the bike will need a service pretty soon. Detail is the key so ask questions. Good luck. Andy

  7. It looks like a 2013 or 2014 bike, it has the covers over the engine and exhaust loop under the seat. I'd be pretty suspicious of the lack of details and pictures but it should have had the run in service at 600 miles so could actually be a good buy if it's all legit when you bear in mind its £21k new and basically has only just been run in. I had this mileage after a couple of weeks on both my S and R!

edit: that said there's quite a few for sale on ebay...
