749 Fault Code 2.1 Displayed On Dash

  1. Started bike this morning not going out just checked it was ok after a few weeks lay up EML on and fault code is 2.1 on dash

    2.1 Pressure Sensor short circuit to power supply

    Has anyone had this and found the fix assuming it is a replacement sensor or wiring issue.

  2. Away from my reference files but I think 2.1 is an oil pressure sensor fault. Good news is you can use a Vauxhall Agila one and they are cheap as chips on eBay.

  3. The oil light is not on which seems strange but I will check it out as the code details do not actually say oil pressure sensor just "sensor" but it does make sense will post back with results
     
  4. I don't know how these are wired, but has it shorted?

    i.e. if you take the oil pressure sensor wire to earth, would the oil pressure light go out? Has the error occured because the oil light is extinguished when the the engine is not running? Pull the connector off the switch with the engine off, does your oil light come on? This would be my 1st check.
     
  5. The oil light is not on when engine running so I assume the switch works but it has picked up the fault code . I will have a look tomorrow when I have more time and post back.

    • 1.1 Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) short-circuit to battery +

    • 1.2 Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) short-circuit to ground

    • 2.1 Oil pressure sensor short-circuit to battery +

    • 2.2 Oil pressure sensor short-circuit to ground

    • 3.1 Oil temperature sensor short-circuit to battery +

    • 3.2 Oil temperature sensor short-circuit to ground

    • 4.1 Air temperature sensor short-circuit to battery +

    • 4.2 Air temperature sensor short-circuit to ground

    • 5.1 Battery HI

    • 5.2 Battery LO

    • 7.1 Fuel sensor short-circuit to battery +

    • 7.2 Fuel sensor short-circuit to ground

    • 10.1 Horizontal cylinder coil short-circuit to battery +

    • 10.2 Horizontal cylinder coil short-circuit to ground

    • 11.1 Vertical cylinder coil short-circuit to battery +

    • 11.2 Vertical cylinder coil short-circuit to ground

    • 12.1 Injector 1 short-circuit to battery +

    • 13.1 Injector 2 short-circuit to battery +

    • 19.1 Starter solenoid short-circuit to battery +

  6. So go out to look at the 749 EML / CEL on turn ignition on light goes out crank over light still out starts up light still out read fault codes non listed

    I love mechanic fairies fixed my bike while I slept. :grinning::innocent:
     
  7. Have I understodd that as the oil pressure light is out with the ignotion turned on, but the engine not running Rod?
     
  8. No bud the oil light comes on as normal and goes out as normal it was the yellow engine management light that was on but now it is out.

    The fault code was 2.1 pressure sensor short circuit to positive but it is no longer on ??

    i think from what I have read that the 2.1 code does refer to the oil pressure circuit but cannot confirm yet.

  11. This is the fault code listing I found but there is some confusion as the Ducati list just says pressure sensor in some cases.

    • 2.1 Oil pressure sensor short-circuit to battery +
    • 2.2 Oil pressure sensor short-circuit to ground
    I am sure it won't be the last time I see it but I shall strip it over the next week or so and service for summer with a fine tooth comb on connectors etc .
