R25 won't be. R30 is a superior backpack in so many ways (I've had both). Used the R30 as my only luggage for an 8 day trip across the Pyrenees last year - if touring, it's alot easier having your luggage 'with you' unless you have hard/lockable luggage. imho.
Id rather luggage myself tbh, less fatigure, more comfy etc. The kriega is v secure and clips off, very handy and well thought of pce of kit imo.. each to their own i suppose..
I fed my front Kriega straps through the holes either side of the cover locking mechanism and the rear ones around the numberplate frame under the seat on my 1199s. I'll try and take a picture when I get a chance as it worked ok and didn't need any customisation. Unfortunately I hadn't picked up the pillion seat so I got polish marks on the paintwork of the tail cover but other than that it was solid for a 700 mile trip to the Isle of Man last weekend.
It was all fine for the Isle of Man. Very secure. I've ridden with a backpack and not a fan. More miles coming up (moto gp at Assen and a Scotland trip) and due to wrist ache I've decided to retire the 899 to track and Sunday blasts so got a hyperstrada being delivered this Thursday. Upright, fun and 2 x panniers. Keeping the kriega to add instead of a top box. Although willing to part with the US 20s if anyone wants them. The stable grows!
excellent post, got a bunch of kreiga luggage I need to get on my 899 got a ride to assen in a couple of weeks, and then scotland again in july
I'm doing Assen too. But on the hyperstrada ☺️ I'm in a group with 2 x 1199s a multistrada a tiger 800 a 748 and I think a couple of 986's!
will just be me and my mate on his z1000sx my first time at assen and his first time out of the uk on a bike ill make sure look out for the special ducati parking section
Assen here too! 2 x Red Panigale 1199S's and an 1199S Tricolore. We're getting the overnight ferry from Harwich on Friday night. Anyone else on that one?
I did something similar to my 1199 Panigale. Replaced the three bolts under the seat with slightly longer ones and fitted washers. Cut down the straps and cut holes in them to accept the longer bolts. These held fine with a 20L and 10L strapped together. Makes the back end pretty high and you need a good swing of the leg to clear the bags. Now need to figure out how to fit the Kreiga tank adaptor. Spending next week touring the Normandy beaches and have borrowed another 20L pack. Figure a 30+10 on the tail and a 20 on the tank should keep me going.
