Just to finish the story. Fitted a ciggy socket and a plug in charger and guess what works perfectley. Garmin must have soomehow added something to the up date that recognises that you are connecting a none motorcycle based unit. All is now well even if the conglomeration under my seat looks like a dogs dinner. It works. Regards
