Which Quickshifter?

Discussion in 'Monster' started by Sam1199, Feb 18, 2017.

  1. I'm after a quickshifter for my 1200 Monster S. It looks like Healtech or HM.

I discovered today that the Healtech system cuts the fuel injectors to unload the gearbox. Whereas the HM system cuts the power to the coil or HT leads.

The Healtech should avoid any popping in the exhaust system from unburned fuel.

Does anyone have any experience of either system? Before I mash my cash and.... gearbox.

  2. Got the Healtech on my Multi DVT and once set up is great, really smooth and easy to adjust using the smartphone app?

  3. Got a hm on my Z1000.... Works fine.... Mines the plus (little red control box)

Got the healtech on my hypermotard 1100.

  4. HM. Strain gauge type I think they call it.

  5. Yip. That's right. I think the healtech is too... Might be wrong there though...

  6. Got a preference and a reason or do I take it they're both good?

  7. Both good in their own way... Hm is not as busy with the wiring as the healtech but the healtech offers much more versatility and control. I bought the hm second hand (from a zx10 but to fit to the zed it needed an different length pushrod) that was it... It just worked.

The healtec was a pain in the arse (long story) but, healtec themselves and the reseller were brilliant, very understanding and we're very supportive all the way through and we're keen to get on the bottom of the problem (the engine cut test wasn't working) but strangely the qs actually did work all along.

  9. Ask your Ducati dealers/specialists. They see gearbox damage so may have insightful views :)

Only one ever recommended to me really have been HM as they are kinder to gearboxes. Apparently. :

  10. Partially in agreement with Bradders ive not had a problem yet but then i dont use it all of the time (id say now 5% if that). The QS has been on the rsv4 for the longest (but that is a retro fitted factory job) so integrated with the ecu which does offer the smoothest change of the 3. However ive got one of the worst if not the worst rsv4 from a reliability point of view and all ive had actually fail in 5 years of ownership is one tps sensor and the rocker covers leak which was cured with a part upgrade (all other expenditure is me throwing money at upgrades). Apparently on the RSV4 the selector dogs go but, its something im kinda not worried about as the gearbox is a cassette job so when and if that happens ill refurb the gearbox at the same time...

The hypermotard lump is always being quoted as "Bulletproof" so we'll see how that goes :)

The zed: pretty well the same....owned that just over 2 years now and the QS has been on there 18 months....ive had a couple of mischanges on the zed but, thats where i was being a bit namby pamby with the shift and should have been more assertive...

Just to add balance to the post... QS's cant be all bad as they wouldnt offer them on a large number of bikes now, but having said that i can only guess that an integrated shifter with the ecu gives more integration with the engine re my statement regarding my rsv4....
