The top (header) pipe looks intact. The bottom (y-connector) bit could possibly have.... I assume it would still be sandwiched in the slot of the header pipe though...

 

I went with snapped because I couldn’t see how it would have popped out myself.. and I know they’re known for cracking

 

Mate , I don’t think your ownership is jinxed.
Riding an Italian supersport ( whilst very cool) in Mumbai is like choosing a Harley to do motorcross.
Speed bumps are the last of your problems!, you ride in one of the most congested parts of the world with potholes the size of swimming pools.
You could buy a new 959 and IMO you will experience problems ( some similar & new ones to keep you busy).

I genuinely wouldn’t take it personally, my 899 was used as a daily & had numerous problems (although the potholes in Manchester are bigger than yours).

The quality of images on here is not often good for me but I’m wondering about other peoples at the moment - If you look carefully you can see that the whole upper section has become separated, I’m not talking about the swaged ‘header’ above it.

 

We really do have the best Potholes in the world!

 

This is my 1299 connector piece, but I imagine very similar. I think what you’re saying @Chris is the bit where mine flares doesn’t seem to be there... like it has sheared at that point. I cannot See a narrowing of the pipe further down. I just would have expected that bit to get stuck in the header pipe ( they would have to pull apart significantly For is to fall out).

 

i believe its because you ride it in winter. just saying.

Good news, I'd seriously get him to check everything the original mech touched or for that matter potentially had cause to look at!

 

I’d also seriously suggest getting a workshop manual and doing jobs yourself. They take you through step by step how to remove and replace everything on the bike. Ok, some boots can be a complete pain, but half the fun is winning that battle!
