  1. Had the camera out anyway... so here's a couple of pics of the work in progress, but nearing the end.

  3. I'm getting through a very extensive/expensive "must-have" list. The Samco hoses are, sadly, on the "nice-to-have" list.

  5. Not much more I can do on the bike now (said no one ever). Tank, fairings and rear shock are with their respective specialists. I've assembled everything that looks essential. I have the requisite handful of bolts leftover (well many were replaced with newbies). So until I get the last parts back from the doctor the bike is, I sincerely hope, as ready as it can be.   6. Iirc, the correct tension for in service belts is 90 Hz. Not sure how the 45 degree method relates to this but I think it’s for new belts.
    If your belts are not new I can’t help wondering if the 45 degree twist will give you over-tight belts as the initial slackening will have been already taken out.
    To test for Hz you can download the Gates Carbon Drive app onto your phone or tablet
     
  7. Thanks for that. Very useful. The belts are more than a year old. But they spent that year in a box. I’ve got spare new ones that I’ll save for a service. In the meantime I will use the app you suggested. Thanks
     
  8. If they’ve not been used, 100-110 Hz
    Personally I’d stick with them if they’ve been sitting around in box but under no tension and away from light.
    They should be fine :)

  11. Slight hiccup in progress.

    I decided to send my rear shock off to PGP for a refresh and installing the appropriate spring for my bulk. Then I thought, what’s the point in having a nice rear if the front isn’t sorted. So ordered the correct spring rate for the front end and the forks are out to be reset again.

    Then there’s the paint and repairs. Wow, the quality of work I found on the monoposto seat from whoever painted the number boards on. Well let’s just say removing the paint and clear coat was achieved with a spatula.

    I’ve also got a 1098 side stand on the way to replace the tired and tortured stock stand. I prefer a stand that was straight and a little longer to eliminate the panic inducing lean the old stand provided.

  12. Now there's thought. I doubt I'll get teeth in to mine for at least 18mths. Doesn't stop me buying parts though ;-)

  16. Here she is. All dressed for her first MOT since 2011 and having completed (99.9%) the big rebuild.

    Short ride to the MOT station and she feels awesome. Running 15 x 39 gearing and a newly built and tuned engine and I swear it is miles stronger than it was before.

    Not gutsy enough to crack open the throttle yet, certainly not on these greasy roads. But I look forward to that day.
