  1. Seems quite tight in there when the sleeve is in...

  2. Question to anyone out there.....looking at the cylinder head mine has those rubber discs that go in between the fins...I presume to stop them getting bent...

    1. I can't find them on the parts list
    2. Do they need to go back in?

  3. I always understood them to be about vibrations. To dampen the oscillations of the cooling fins. Which prevents fracture etc. Put them back in.

  4. Ah..ok...well, assuming they're probably welded in there and, if some got damaged being removed ( which is bound to happen) where would I locate more of them?

  5. As long as the sleeve rotates freely & they are well greased dhould be good, btw. When it's worn feels like a big end on the way out...

  6. I often thought about using cut lenths of glue stick as an alternative, not tried it tho.

  7. Cool. Definately smooth so that's OK then....cheers.

  8. Well, I'm planning on getting the motor up to ducati john sometime next week....he's bound to know....spoke to the xylan coating guy...reckons the whole motor will cost about 5-600 to do (he's done a few ducati motors before so knows how to do them and what's involved). About a month to turn around. Guessing its going to be off the road for a couple of months....should get a good chunk of the summer on it though...

  9. If you have it apart, replace them. They sound like they will always be on the back of your mind if you dont.

  10. Yes....I was going to pay a visit to riders tomorrow....I'm guessing no more than a fiver per bearing....

  11. If i recall the sleeve is the expensive psrt if worn.

  12. Try a local bearing supplier (if you have one). I was quoted about £20 each for front wheel bearings for an MV Agusta F4 a few years back. A trip to the local supplier got me a pair for £10.

'Tinterweb could be your friend too. There seem to be a few suppliers about if you know your sizes. Here

  13. Bound to be....getting a bit of shopping list together....

  14. Yeah I believe you can literally take measuremeants and get as bearing to match...

  15. Arranged for Saturday visit to ducati John....let the expense commence..!

  16. Well, didnt make it to John's - (plan is to try to get there this weekend coming). Got the stand mount recoated in black cerakote (will collect that this week). Exhaust pipe polishing is continuing. Not been in the garage that much in the last week as getting lent on by the other half....ill throw up the pics of the stand mount when i get it back (before and after). Will also be taking down the throttle body manifold's to see if they can be done also. Again in typical ducati fashion, pig iron bolts in there which have corroded (not much but enough to get on my nerves) and the manifold themselves are quite pitted and dull. Reason for the discussion is that they are mated to rubber so its more a case of seeing if they can be masked off - if they can, great, theyll get done too...

  17. Crank shot. Engine stripped...

  19. Bearings should have a number stamped on them, eg, 6004.

  20. Progress? Outcome? Next? What was it like watching a real expert?
