  3. A mate bought a new 2017MY Multistrada 1200 DVT in February and it went back within the first 250 miles for new front discs. The guy has been backwards and forwards to the supplying dealer with a persistent rubbing noise from the front ever since. Got him to come over and put it on my ramp and had a good look at it. Yep definite sound of rubbing if you rotate the wheel slowly and you can hear it from full lock to full lock. Spanners out and took the calipers off. Why would you fit 330mm discs with M4 calipers ? What a faff getting the caliper off without damaging the wheel, absolutely the minimum clearance. Left hand caliper off and it was immediately obvious the right hand caliper pads were binding. Anyway with both calipers off the wheel spins freely without noise so not bearings. Looked at the bobbins and both sides needed a damn good clean. Again got to the right hand disc and the bobbins are seized solid. 20 minutes later, bobbins all freed up, calipers cleaned and refitted and .......... yep, no rubbing sound, all it was, is a known issue with semi floating discs. Mate just ridden off into the sunset a much happier man having said he is looking forward to including bobbin cleaning in his bike maintenance routine. Andy

  5. First thing this morning I went to see my 4yo grandson doing his PE lesson at school. It was all about teaching them coordination and counting whilst they were doing it. All the kids were as cute as a cute thing trying to balance and catch balls etc.

We then set off for home and though we missed the crappy traffic it still took 5 hours to get home from Jockland.

Since then I have been catching up on stuff and emailing and talking to prospective clients like it's going out of fashion :)

  6. Busy day.
Had to bath this stinky hound after her morning walk in the woods, she just loves to roll in crap.
I had to have all the windows in the car open on the way home, I may have to burn this car and buy a new one thanks to the smelly hound.

I also sort of, got to the bottom of my Ducati complete electrical failure last week, turn the key and nothing works except for the rear light, no dash lights, headlight or bar controls. The old girl got me home safe before running out of electricity so no complaints. It was a bad connection somewhere around the headstock, I`d checked all the connectors on the left side of the bike and nothing, still no life. I moved the bars to full left lock to check the ones on the right side and the dash lights up and everything works again, hurrah!!!
I can`t get the fault to happen again so I`ve just checked all the connectors on the right side and call it done. The bike is going to V-Duo in a couple of weeks for belts and I`ve asked Adam to also strip and clean the big bowl of spaghetti that is the battery box, I`ll ask him to double check all the wiring as well. I hate electrics.
Now to crack on with the basic service stuff. Already cleaned the air filters, just oil, filter, oil screen this time as well, strip and clean the clutch and brakes.
This has to be one of the best bikes I`ve ever owned.

  12. The only sticker on it said do not touch. :(

However, he had a Gen 2 Paingale R coming in today with <1000 miles on it. He did tell me the price, so your estimate on the 996R may be closer than you think. :worried:

996R had 8,200 miles on it btw. 2 owners, the last one since it was a year old. It did look mint. :upyeah: How much is the Euromillions tomorrow? :)
