V4 Luggage

  1. Fair play! When i spoke to Kriega they said thats its really difficult to get something sorted. Did you go straight under the pillion seat and tie on the sub frame? Can you send any pics of where you attached it to? I haven't had a look yet as don't have the bike so any advice would be super helpful. Did you ride out to Italy for the GP? How did you find it touring on long rides?

  2. I'm on a tour as I type and taken in a few stops including all the Mugello madness! As I'm on the road, I can't provide you with any pics and in my case I slid the nylon loops beneath the pillion seat, clicked the seat back into it's place and pretty much good to go.
    Since getting my Pani in May2017, I've racked up around 10k touring miles with the 90l luggage and all good.
    I was new to the whole Kriega thing which I bought at the same time as the Pani and the one piece of advice as has been mentioned on other posts on the forum before is to strap it all down nice and tight... when you think you're ok with it... go back again and strap it down some more! Makes the difference between it moving around and not having to think about all day long so you can just focus on enjoying the ride!
    If it's just the single 30l bag you're taking then you should be ok ;)
    Been doing these type of tours for coming up to a couple of decades now, all near enough on sportsbikes and the Pani is right up there with being at the top of the comfy list... maybe not the most appropriate wording as if someone's looking for comfort then get a tourer!

  3. Here is the setup I did for Le Mans, long ones attach to the pillion strap and the then shorts ones attach under the rear fairing that you screw on for the pillion seat. Never budged an inch.

  4. I bought Kreiga kit for my recent trip and both the 20lt and 5lt (I packed pretty light!), let water in... anyone else had this experience?

  5. I have a 20ltr and last year I got soaked to the skin on the way to Le Mans, rear lights were doing a dance for about 3 hours till they dried out. All my kit was bone dry although it was packed. Maybe that made a difference
     
  6. Both of my dry bags were full, strapped down pretty tight, internal bags all in place properly. Bit gutted, fitted really well on the 899 and had high hopes what with all of the positive reviews. Sportsbikeshop.com have kindly said to return them so will be doing so soon.
     
  7. I use 3 x 20l and 1 x 30l all at the same time and been through a couple of days of continuously wet weather, that's 8-10hrs in the saddle each day and everything came out dry.
    Now for the boring bit! but perhaps useful too. Reading through the Kriega manual ages ago, they mention to ensure that a certain number of turns (3 I think) are applied when closing the bags in an attempt to keep the water out.
    When carrying quite a buit of stuff in the bags, applying 3 turns is easier said than done, however I always do and so far so good as far as staying dry is concerned. Even the external pockets which I don't think are covered by the internal dry bag stay dry which I can vouch for as the considerable amount of papers that I keep in there weren't soggy one little bit!

  8. Yeah I was doing three turns too. My insurance and v5 copies got wet in the zip pockets as well. Very strange. I'd happily keep it if it was going to keep my stuff dry. Don't get me wrong, it was dripping but damp certainly got in. Shame.
     
  9. I hear ya buddy, the dry packs aren't exactly cheap either so at that price you want them to do the job!
     
  10. Thanks for the detailed photos - Very useful. Are the 4 straps included with the Kriega 20L bag or did you purchase them separately ?

    I am working with a friend on making an additional plate to attach to the original 1199/1299 mounting kit to see if I can use the SW Motech Panniers and will upload some photos and details if it all works out (Might be useful for other folk switching from 1199/1299 to the V4 and want to use their original SW Motech luggage)
     
  11. Kriega are working on a V4 fitting kit as we speak according to their Instagram page.
     
  12. For the tank bag I can confirm, having just done it, that the Ion Bags Connection ring (from SW Motech now) designed for the 1299 Panigale also works fine with the V4S.

    I'm guessing that therefore the EVO version would work fine too - but I had an old Bags Connection tankbag that had the older fitting.

    That said, with the height of the screen I found that if I extended the tankbag to its full capacity (you can zipper it out) that it put my head right in the airstream and gave me neckache fairly quickly. In the small configuration it was fine.

    Was hoping you could possibly help me.I'm taking ownership soon of my 1299 and love that pic with the SW-Motech Blaze panniers and was wondering since they dont supply it for the 1299 did you buy the ones for the 1199 and it fit? or did you do some mods.Would appreciate any help.

  16. Hi Cul

    The 1199 Kit will fit but it is a little tight to the heatshield of the exhaust, and you may need to angle the bolt at a slight angle to beginning with to get it to take, but I did not have to take the heatshield off and there was no cross threading as I remove the kit for use with my V4S with a modded special plate that I made.

    One thing to note is that you are aren't able to use the rear passenger pegs with the kit as there isn't enough room to mount them on the 1299 but that didn't bother me as I ride solo on my sports bikes.

  18. THEY WERE OFF MY GSXR1000 K12 I DID A MOD ON THE BRACKET AND CUT THE SIDE ARMS WENT FROM SCOTLAND TO ITALY AND BACK NEVER HAD A PROBLEM HAVE NOW FITTED THEM TO MY V4S
