@comfysofa I had an issue with the clutch on my hyper on Monday - clutch lever suddenly felt like it was hitting something when pulled in - I could only get it to pull in about half way and it hit a 'stop'. Wondering if this might be a problem with the gear return spring - although a friend I left it with took the slave cylinder off and reckons he's fixed it by inserting a ballbearing. He thought the slave piston had popped out too far and was jamming causing the problem. Im not convinced although it seems to be ok at the mo.
Thanks @comfysofa it seems to be working now ok - but what caused it is my concern - am due to do a track day on her this Sunday! I don't like it when things are fixed but they're not sure what caused it!
Couple more bits returned from Mr Cerakote ...tank collar and that bit at the back which holds some of the electrics...
Quick update: Just got off the phone with Ducati John. Final build cost is, give or take 2.2k. Ouch. But, ive kinda taken it to the extreme in that, i can if i want to re-use all the bearings that came out, but, while ive got this chance then thought better of it, coupled with the upgraded shell main bearings is what adds a sizable chunk to the cost. Work will begin on re-assembly mid june...ish.
Just in case anyone thought it had all gone quiet....well, it has, Ducati John is on hols (cheeky sod eh! ) engine rebuild "should" be starting next week....
That sprag wear on the starter wheel, I assume is ok? Are you replacing that nuisance sprag whilst youre there? Cant wait to see finished engine. Should look the nuts.
I presume so...its at Ducati Johns....so im assuming he'll replace if he needs to but ill ask all the same...
Yeah - i bloody hope so! i do try to "do stuff right" if ever i end up in this situation....if i wasnt planning on keeping it long term then i may have gotten another engine or something like that, but, it was really all about the finish (the cerakoting) thats the thing that should give it the longevity. Im hoping that once its all back together and running the time taken to keep it looking good should be cut down to a minimum...
Hey andy, was only thinking this morning bout how its going, you had the crank assy balanced, was it far out? Should be silky smooth when all done.
Yep - all balanced and done as you can see....only fly in the ointment was i bought an aftermarket gear return spring from the states (80 quid to get it here) i stuck it in the box and for whatever reason it got lost....bollocks. My bro is going back over later in the year so ill get another sent to where he's staying....(will cost half the price then)!! It seems like forever ive been sending cash off to Ducati john but after the end of this month ill be on the home straight....theres still more to do though (the rear cf bit) is in desparate need of a respray so once its all back together that'll be going somewhere to get sorted out...
And we're there...all rebuilt and back together...its been off the road night on 4 months...worth the wait...!
