I have one ready to go on. The OEM subframe is 1.24kg and the DB holders one is 0.70kg, so another half a kilo saved.
Renthal chains are made by regina. What i was told by biketorque when i got my AFAM chain and wheels anyway The standard chain is crap anyway so probably lighter than a decent quality / more substantial chain
You may well be right. The change wasn’t a weight saving thing it was more to do with the OEM one rusting at the merest sight of a cloudy sky!
The standard chains are poor. I was having to adjust it every couple of rides. The DID which came standard on the monster R hasn't needed adjusting once and the AFAM i put on the panigale was great too after 7000 miles i have just changed for a DID zvmx which was meant to be better. didn't need to change them as the chain was perfectly fine and when i compared the alloy AFAM sprocket to the new one that was barely worn either so wasted my time and money to be honest. The AFAM front steel sprocket was looking worn though so put a renthal on the front
I would put the side stand back on as ease of use outways weight saving imo, think you have covered most of the weight saving, just got to add the crash protection weight back on now
I want to leave open the possibility of entering the odd race and the oil catch pan won’t fit with the sidestand. I have lived with race bikes before, so no big problem. The only crash protection I have are the front fork bobbins and tank protectors, which I am planning to weigh along with the addition of the brake guard and shark fin. I think there is going to be a significant difference in the weight of fairings too (I would guess a couple of kg).
The CRC jobbies are pretty light. Will they be lighter than the oem placcy ones? I'd certainly consider adding engine case protection.
They are definitely lighter. The nose feels half the weight. Sorry, yes, I do have the GB Racing engine covers. They have been on so long I forgot they were not part of the bike!
When I swapped mine I did weigh them. Can't recall the exact numbers, however, not much difference at the front. The oem rear is like something from the flintstones!
Just too much money.... a years worth of trackdays! I figure if the Trioptions boys can do the times they can, the wheels aren’t holding me back.
Finally got around to stripping off and weighing the ABS unit/bracket/hoses. All in they weigh 1.42kg. The HEL lines and Bike Sport Developments module weigh 0.42kg, so another 1.0kg saved and hopefully better braking!
Just off the shelf race kit from HEL that I assume are exactly the same as for the 899/1199/1299. Just chose your colours and they make them up.
very informative thread this ron,what about adding the rough costs of the parts,so we can get an idea of the cost per kilo. is changing the wheels for lighter ones not a reasonable cost for losing weight in the most benificial area,i have gone for that option as the others seem a lot of work/cost for small gains, only other change which im considering is the exhaust to a std 1299,did yours need remapped when changing to the 1299
I think that's a great mod and the bonus is a weight saving. What sort of cost for the the lines and delete module?
