2019 Hypermotard Mods

  1. How long of a iPhone ext cord did you use ? 4 feet or 6 feet long ?

    Please post total miles you get on one full tank , thanks..
     
  2. When you say that the hex tool scratches the paint, is it better to use a longer hex tool to avoid this ?
     
  3. No need to scratch the paint. keep the long end of the key over the seat when you first apply torque to remove the bolt, short arm inserted into bolt head. Once loose enough, insert the long end into the bolt head and twist the short end to remove.

    Next time you install the bolt, make it finger tight with long end inserted into the head, torque with the short end. No need to make it Gorilla tight.
     
  4. 3 ft. should be plenty. It is 24 inches in a straight line port to handlebars. Add a foot for some slack .

  6. Picture of a standard iphone 3 ft cord installed. Works fine. Power to USB port is on USB cord.jpg only when key is on.
     
  7. Thank you. I think if I run it along the frame I may need at least 4 feet. I want to hide the cable along the frame behind the side panel so that it is well hidden.

  8. Does under the seat still have a cable for locking your helmet to the bike?

  10. The handguards on the 2019 Hyper are just cosmetic. They are flimsy plastic and scream wanna be. A Shame they are not a robust functional piece.

    This is a mod that must be done.

    The Rizoma Proguards look like a great idea. Bar end adapter is also needed.

  11. The existing pit bull Hypermotard stand fits on the new Ducati Hypermotard 950SP, both sides. See attached pictures.

    The only issue is that on the drive side, with handle forward, the kickstand is in the way. The kickstand must be lifted up or the pit bull handle will blocked and not move freely to the floor. Once the bike is secure, the kickstand can be lowered if need be, but then must be raised again to lower the bike to the floor. pit bull drive side.jpg Pit Bull non drive side.jpg

  12. You said you are 5 foot 8 , I am as well.
    Is the height that much different than the 939 sp like others are saying.
    On the 939 sp , I am really on my toes, I’m hoping the 950 sp is smaller due to it being more narrow.
     
  13. Leg length is important, more than overall height of your body.

    The 950SP is a tall bike. I am on my toes, and it does require adaptation.

    For example, if you are short legged, and if you stop on even the slightest slope, you may not reach the ground with your foot. It is very important to shift your weight off the seat and plan to plant a solid foot or you can drop the bike.

    If I park the bike with the kickstand side even slightly downhill, it is impossible for me to mount the bike on the kickstand side and bring the bike upright. I need to mount from the other side and pull it straight.

    Planning ahead is important. You must be sure you know where you foot will be when you stop. Tiptoes will eventually fail you and you will drop the bike. Always plan for a shift off the seat and a firmly planted foot.

  14. How does the height from the 939 compare to the 950 when you are on them? Is the 950 easier to put your feet down?
     
  15. Never rode a 939, but the published data on seat height is as follows:

    2018 939SP: 890 mm 939: 870 mm
    2019 950SP: 890 mm 950: 870 mm

    No change in seat height, but the seat is supposedly narrower.

    "With no bump stop now for the pillion section, the seat is now flat - one single line (with a dip in the middle of course) from the tank to the tail - truly like a supermoto. The junction between the seat and tank is much narrower now, to better facilitate a leg-out supermoto riding style. And the seat height too, at 870mm, is at fairly intimidating supermoto levels. Now even with my 5’10” frame, I was far from being able to flat-foot the bike. Thankfully though, since the seat is narrow, getting your feet down, while difficult, is still manageable. Finally, to make the riding position more “elbows-out” aggressive, the handlebars have been opened up by 7 degrees."

  16. Installed R&G Rear Axle Spindle Sliders (SS0037BK). They also serve to allow for a standard swingarm paddock stand which is more stable than the single sided stand.

    Single sided stand is still needed for tire removal.

Thinking of putting this piece on a perfectly fine rear foot brake lever, cutting off the existing toe pedal extension, just to have the folding ability in case of a drop, and it allows for easy adjustability of toe position. I find it hard to apply full pressure to the rear brake, it requires to much downward movement of my ankle, this will raise the pedal as well and make it more neutral. I could always just adjust the lever with the existing hardware in place. Not sure what I will do yet.

  18. FWIW 96 miles from a full tank until the low fuel light comes on.

    I filled up at 100 miles and put in 3 gallons.
     
  19. 1-Which mode were you using?
    2-Were you riding fast or mellow?
    3 How many miles from fill up do you think you can get in total?
    4- once light goes on , how many more miles can you go before running out?
