cheers Mr C, i guess then that a trim-able rod is included in the kit? or just threaded for adjust ability. any chance of a picture of the shift assembly fitted?
Thanks Mr C. Do both strain gauges come with the kit?? Like Nathanhu said maybe a picture of the shift rod would be great
I had a RB Race module fitted to my 1199 and 1299. With respect to the shift rod it's very straightforward. Measure the distance between the centre of the ball joints from end to end of the OEM shift rod assembly. There is a figure in your owners manual as to what this should be in mm. Use heat to soften the copious amount of threadlock Ducati use to bond the stock shift rod to the strain gauge and unscrew it. Screw on the new RB shift rod, having applied fresh locktite to the cleaned threads of the strain gauge. Fit the OEM ball joint onto the end of the RB shift rod, then adjust the eye to eye length to match the OEM reading you took earlier. Whole job takes about ten mins. Dimsport do NOT supply a strain gauge.
Topolino thanks for the reply and instructions. My technical english is not so OK I see what I meant is do you get in the kit the ball joints(or at least one of them)? The "back" ball joint that is mounted to the rear sets you can unscrew from the OEM shift rod but what about the front one as it is one piece with the OEM shift sensor? see the picture. Sorry if my questions are stupid but I would like to know if I need to buy something else before the kit arrives. Cheers
No you dont need to replace the front one as its part of the strain gauge. Just unscrew the OEM rod and remove the ball joint from it which you will need to re-use later, as explained above.
I’m going to buy one of these I think What does the kit actually come with? Does the new rod come with the kit or do you reuse the old one? The listing says c27-sw-003 rose joint is required - do you just reuse the bottom OEM rose joint or this for the other end? And does the OEM sensor get reused? Looking at the pictures above it doesn’t look like it but it that used in place of rose joint c27-sw-003? Thanks
how much did you had to play around with the software of the shifter to get it working so smooth or was it just "plug and play" for you?
Had a small technical issue but Rapidbike logged on to my bike remotely and sorted it. That aside there is a very simple step by step set up and then you are good to go. I did have to lower the sensitivity but that's very easy to do.
Fitted the kit yesterday and made first 150km....what a kit!! Mr C can you tell me what preload setting do you use....just for comparison. Cheers
You get everything. The only thing you need from the OEM shifter is the back rose joint. Front rose joint, sensor and rod you get in the box
Cheers - performance parts said I needed the rod and rose joint too but the instructions say otherwise
Yes it is very good. I will probably have to go lover than 35 as I noticed when I push "hard" on the throttle at about 8k rpm the engine looks like starts to vibrate so much that it starts to cut out...It does this no matter the gear...imagine the surprise I got when in 3rd gear full throttle this happened...wheelie saturday Don't know yet if this is due to engine vibrating or the racing rear sets. My preload now is on 35.
