  3. Supplied and fitted from £1500 inc vat, you will need a Fensa/Certass registered installer. fitting should take a day, prices vary alot, look here https://www.eurocell.co.uk/homeowners/upvc-doors/the-dales-collection-composite-doors , get a price from them online, i get 30% discount pre vat, that will give you a good idea on actual cost, fancy glass options are expensive and the in fashion colours are more expensive as they are a white door slab sprayed, they are well worth the extra over a upvc door.a few i have fitted below.

  4. With all that noise you think someone would call the cops...not really...
I installed a hardwood door and frame with 2 deadlocks, a night latch and London bar..
2 weeks later I was called back to repair as a group of 5 thugs smashed it in. in seconds...
Unfortunately I don't have the video the client showed me, but basically a group of 4 surounded a 5th who musta weighed in at 130-140kg and ran him at the door... Took 2 attempts iirr.. alot of noise and you can see lights go on in the neighbouring houses in the mews ( from the other cameras she has) but no one got involved at all ... 10. Another mildly amusing story, did a project in Holland park last year... The client there had a security door made for her basement/light well... It weighed in at 200 kg and took four of us to get it down stairs ..
When stood up, four couldn't get a physical grip on it so to had to be rolled into position on drill bits ( if that makes sense?)
Anyhu, she decided it should be fit to the original soft wood frame and only have one deadlock... Wtf? It was steel lined so pretty much impossible to fit another lock to it after it was made and no matter how strong the door was, a swift kick would break the lock/frame.. the best bit was, the bay window next to it is single glazed...
    Money well spent...
I'm waffling coz I'm pissed and bored..
There is a moral to this story though...
Oh yea! Thieves don't always use the front door.

  11. Door, frame, hardware and installation. We had 3 different companies quote and they were all within £10 of each other.

  12. Another note is, how well is the frame fixed? I worked for Balham glass and joinery in South London, as an installer when I first came to London .
We ( as in the kiwis and English on the firm) were getting grief as to how long it took us to install compared to the polish guys.. turned out the poles were using no mechanical fixings at all.. just foam and mastic.. little wonder they were faster..
Not a dig at the polish , those boys were doing what the boss said ( we wernt) more a heads up as to what to look out for ..

  13. Oi

  14. About £2K down here.

  15. Secured by Design means the glass is upgraded to laminated and the lock is 3star security rated and the handles are stronger. As you are looking for a door and side panel can I suggest you have a midrail fitted to the side panel as this adds some strength and helps with the reliability of the door, the long in fashion door handles add approx £300 to the cost, the doors are always white internally as standard, when it is fitted make sure there is a minimum of 6 fixings per side, its always best if the door has a side panel that the hinge side is fixed to the brickwork.

  16. Cool, yes the door is hinged on the brickwork side, good call re the midrail - I guess that is a steel reinforcer between the panel and the opening. My current door opening flexes a bit there.

  17. Wha?
