Unlikely look what happens when people are given a real choice The referendum in Scotlands result is ignored by their government The referendum in the U.K. has been blocked in the U.K. for three years Macron admitted if the French had a referendum then there would have been a frexit so they don't have one two in holland one and then ignored to be replaced anyway in ireland by the lisbon agreement. Governments of ALL parties just give enough to make it look like democracy
And Catalonia - that seems to have died down, oh, hang on - thought that was Hong Kong in the news earlier nope, just the good old EU
Catalonia, unless there is a bit of back room diplomacy going on that we don't know about, that is a genuine failure of the EU.
This is just a rough lay out of time periods for another referendum based on the first, just structurally. It can vary but not by too much. Some will try and say it could be done quicker but then you have the obvious question why was it not done so before https://constitution-unit.com/2018/...t-take-to-hold-a-second-referendum-on-brexit/ It would inevitably face legal challenges because it would seek to overturn 17.4 million peoples vote for no legitimate reason than the losing side didn't like the result Remainers would also need to push through legislation if they wanted 16-18 year olds which would add time politically, no party would want to admit to being the party that just told 17.4 million voters to "fuck off your votes don't count", just before a general election
and politically a party would benefit by telling the 52% they where shafted by the others. I could imagine they would be quite aggressive about it too.
The LIBs are full on with being the party of the people who reject the referendum - apparently most UK voters do not want to leave the EU.
Well done Boris.... get it done. Two letters, an email and loads of telephone calls. THE Bitches will be back in court on a Monday.... I wonder which court they'll pick?
I'm not sure they will be in court if what was required has been done? I believe a letter was sent on behalf of the government but not officially signed by Johnson in regards to an extension request
The SNP have already said they will take it back to court. SNP A bunch of bloody-minded charlatans intent upon destroying the union of the United Kingdom, supported by a bunch of anti-English bigots. The entire basis of their arguement centres around a non-renewable source of energy that they claim ownership to but seem to forget that without the help of the UK as a whole would not have had the means to extract it in the first place. Not to mention their shyness when it comes to addressing the West Lothian question. Their entire mission statement is fantastical and unsustainable. Should Scotland become a divided nation current schemes such as free university tuition fees and the shambles that is the Scottish parliament would crumble leaving already poor Scottish citizens to foot the bill.
nice. your words? could that be the aggression I was talking about?. no point mentioning the oil anyway, we all know it run out years ago. and besides, if you look at all the silly wee successful countries of the world. very few have oil..
That would be an example of English Exceptionalism which has been talked about quite a bit in the media recently but most people here do not recognise
3 letters sent. 1st required by law, but unsigned. 2nd covering letter 3rd from Bozza on behalf of HM Gov't
Thick as mince. he did a program recently on the NI issue and he asked people from NI to call up and explain to him what the big deal about the border issue and the GFA was because “as an Englishman he didn’t understand”. An hour later having taken many calls from people who spoke with clarity, he still didn’t get it
if I were the EU I would take him not signing the first letter as meaning his negotiations of the past few weeks were wholly disingenuous and he wants a no deal Brexit. Macron is insisting on no extension so he may well get it
