  1. IMO The battery’s not even got enough juice to prime the ignition circuits. You need to change it. They can just die just like that. Have you checked it’s voltage before & after charging?

  3. Oddly, you seem to be resisting doing the most basic thing before worrying about the reg, relays etc etc ... check, or get someone to check if your battery is holding charge, which I bet it is not.

This forum offers advice based on experience, take it mate.

  4. fuck it ill put in an order for battery so...where do u normally get em? Im assuming YUASA is the best for it?

  11. YT12-BS is only 10Ah, I wouldn’t bother. Andy

  12. The YT12b was superseded as OEM fitment in 2010 due to it being too weak. The larger YTX14 fits in the battery box with the padding removed. The picture is of a higher power fitment that was recommended on here by a member (not available back in the day)
We buy YUASA here with Forum Subscriber Discount at Halfords Stores (Trade Card). I presume you can do the same over there

  13. You wont be able to use those chargers on a Lithium battery. For no other reason than cost get a YUASA normal battery this time.
    A decent Lithium is expensive
Make sure you fully charge the new battery before fitting.
While you are playing there are 2 relays hidden away at the side of the battery box the side nearest the rear wheel. They are a source of problems so you ought to change them. It means taking the battery box off to get to them

  14. what happens with them? u dont know what type they are? thanks

Thanks for that..im kind of thinking of upgrading to the newer type YUASA the lads here are quoting and motorcycleshop doesnt seem to cover them.... I see cotters have it so might consider there if cant find em cheaper elsewhere..
    I think your right

Never thought of Halford...may have a look , thanks

  15. Re the relays I just took mine to an auto electrics supplier and bought 4
    They're only £4 each

  16. @exuppower if you subscribe to the forum and pay £15 first year, £5 subsequent years you get a Halfords Trade Card which will save you 10-20% of whatever you buy in Halfords stores or via Halfords online :) You also won’t get any of the annoying adverts you must be getting at the moment:). However, the card won’t arrive for several weeks :( no good for your current needs.

For now get a ‘regular’ lead acid battery it’ll cost 70-80€ a lithium one will be well into 3 figures and as said above you’ll need a new charger. Someone else will come along & confirm or deny but with the 1098 you may have to change your reg/rec device as well.

Motorcycleshop.ie have a ytx14 équivalent at 75€ and a genuine Yuasa ytx14 at 82€ and a ytx16 - more powerful - at 120€. Delivery is free. Cotter’s are also good but Im based in Cork as are motorcycleshop so try to keep it localish. I’ve no connection with them just buy stuff of them periodically and have nothing but praise even when it comes to the sticky subject of returns.

  17. i think the YTX14H-BS is better than the ytx14? ..i checked the yuasa site.. it didnt mention anything about the ytx16...too late anyways..ive just made my order on amazon for the YTX14H-BS :) . I have free prime for a month and a fiver free for downloading app so got it cheapest there.

and as regards motorcycleshop..yea great site, have bought lots off him during the years... if the h model had been there he wouldve got the business :upyeah:

  19. Get yourself some of @Exige ‘s starting circuit cables while you’re at it, so more of the power from the battery actually makes it to the starter motor.
    Makes a huge difference...
