I use this for things that leave a sticky residue (not that!). Makes short work of the sticky crap left over from old wheel weights and gets rid of tar etc. Make sure you wax afterwards to protect your paint again!
GT85 for general degreasing and cleaning because it’s cheap! Brake cleaner for it’s proper purpose - and getting stains out of carpet and fabrics because it contains the same ingredient as dry cleaning fluid! And something I learned from a very experienced Mechanic and racer this year - don’t use mineral based lubricants anywhere near rubber! It makes it swell and ruins seals! So WD40 - kerosene based and most normal mineral oils and lubricants will ruin all of your seals and grommets! Use this instead Before working with a proper mechanic I had no idea how many specific types of grease there are and why using the wrong kind will cause you problems down the line - I didn’t take it all in but he also used Moly grease on all suspension pivots and joints.
General cleaning & cheap is the domain of Mr Sheene & Pledge. Pledge is especially helpful if you're cleaning the bike in the house 'cause the smell is less likely to get you into trouble! Thanks for the tips re carpets cleaning & red grease though!
I’ve never used pledge to clean my chain in the house...... but I’m going to give it a go and see what happens!
Oops I haven't tried the chain either. It loosened up a lot of road crap/ grease etc on the bottom om my crankcases today though! With the fresh smell of Jasmin!
Cmon guys, hardly fair to keep re-posting the photo, it’s pretty obvious that her shorts had slipped off accidentally and she was unaware, she’ll be properly embarrassed if she sees that image!
