42kg of 12 yr old rescue Dingus. Had her for nearly 4 yrs now and wouldn't change a thing about her. (apart from the farts maybe)
'forewarned is forearmed' (prior knowledge of possible dangers or problems gives one a tactical advantage)
Had to have our rescue staffy PTS on friday morning - she was around 12/13 and had developed breathing difficulties, heart issues and probably cancer. She hadn't eaten for three days and was shutting down We took her in 5 years ago. Will probably take another Staffy rescue once we've got over it.
The dog farts are a blessing....if I had a dog it would always get the blame, somehow I don’t think my wife believes me when I try and blame the cat..
Gutted for you fella. Don't know where you are based but this crowd do a lot of rescue work. Website is quite basic but they have a very active facebook page. http://www.moor-viewrescue.co.uk/aboutus
Sorry to hear that Ron. Tough but pretty inevitable, they leave a big hole in your heart when they go.
I have to check with the boss (Chester) before Im allowed out on the bikes but I get my own back at Christmas
Lights blue touch paper........We'll have (be abusing) our 5 at Crufts again on Saturday 7th March. Anyone going that day?.. Our affix is 'Calareto', so do please come and look us up at the Border Collie 'benches', if you have the time....... Retires to a safe distance
Wow. Love a collie, so much energy. I’m more gun dogs man which may also be same day but it clashes with England v Wales (7th) and I have a ticket. So best of luck, but I’m out!
Having moved out into the countryside and working from home a lot more these days, I’m looking for a dog and tbh although my original intention was to take in a rescue dog, it’s by no means a simple process. Even if you manage to find a dog of the right age, breed and needs, the vetting* is a bit of a ball ache. We want a Cocker Spaniel (working/gun dog type), I was looking at some spaniel specific places just last night and tbh it would probably be easier to join MI5 than to adopt one of their dogs. I can totally understand why they’re very careful and want to make sure you’re serious and also have the facilities for keeping a dog but it did put me off and tbh we are probably going to buy a puppy, although it’ll be from a registered breeder and not some dodgy puppy factory. * As in the screening of new potential owners, not the removal of the dog’s testicles by a vet, which I’m sure isn’t very pleasant either.
