  6. Had to have our rescue staffy PTS on friday morning - she was around 12/13 and had developed breathing difficulties, heart issues and probably cancer. She hadn't eaten for three days and was shutting down

We took her in 5 years ago.

Will probably take another Staffy rescue once we've got over it.

  7. The dog farts are a blessing....if I had a dog it would always get the blame, somehow I don’t think my wife believes me when I try and blame the cat..

  16. With the lovely rescues, it seems mad to spend thousands on puppy farmed woofs.

  19. Wow. Love a collie, so much energy. I’m more gun dogs man which may also be same day but it clashes with England v Wales (7th) and I have a ticket. So best of luck, but I’m out!

  20. Having moved out into the countryside and working from home a lot more these days, I’m looking for a dog and tbh although my original intention was to take in a rescue dog, it’s by no means a simple process. Even if you manage to find a dog of the right age, breed and needs, the vetting* is a bit of a ball ache.

We want a Cocker Spaniel (working/gun dog type), I was looking at some spaniel specific places just last night and tbh it would probably be easier to join MI5 than to adopt one of their dogs. I can totally understand why they’re very careful and want to make sure you’re serious and also have the facilities for keeping a dog but it did put me off and tbh we are probably going to buy a puppy, although it’ll be from a registered breeder and not some dodgy puppy factory.

    * As in the screening of new potential owners, not the removal of the dog’s testicles by a vet, which I’m sure isn’t very pleasant either.
