The picking up a Van comparison was a bit tongue in check but showed surprising results of the CCW belts - but Chris did a massive amount of lab based R&D along side that too. His point was that launching a Ducati Belt 10 years ago against OEM he had to make sure his were engineered the best they possibly could be - so he didn't cut any corners. He also had a technical partner in the Ex Tech Director of Gates. +10 years on and history shows they certainly got it right...
Unfortunately the link doesn't work on my equipment. I try at a later point from a different computer.
Exactfit belts are proven to be high quality, premium replacements. You also pay a premium to buy them. End of. This comparison should really only be for OEM Ducati belts, which are branded as Gates Powergrip HTD, vs the Renault belt of the exact same dimensions, also branded as Gates Powergrip HTD.
If he was to donate a set I'm afraid I would just fit them and say no more about it. Although I'm very curious by nature I have short arms and deep pockets.
Exactly why I did not mention them, but the talk was around testing which is where the CCW connection came in
FWIW .... I've been digging through ancient notes .... I can see that I've used Ferodo belts in the past , and also these " FLENNOR " made by Walther Flender Gruppe and marked as 58093 x 17mm .... also 4 07 3DS ( which was probably a batch number ) Both sets were probably bought in France .... I did a quite lot of mileage while I was living there !
Interesting that there are so many alternatives. For my purpose I'm only going to try to prove that the OEM belt(made by Gates)and the Gates Powergrip 5192 XS are the same.
