Until the misfire started all was fine, it was just a local bimble (and not the best of roads around here), I didn't want to go too far just in case. Also, I have to admit I didn't really open her up, I don't think I got above 3rd gear , and didn't get above 9000 rpm; reason being because as soon as I did that the horizon was upon me and I had to slow down a bit. What I have found out is I'm going to have to play around with the footpegs/controls a bit as the gear lever is too close to the footpeg for my size 10.5s and whilst changing down is easy it's bloody difficult for me to hook my toe under the lever for up-changes. Anyway, that's easy enough to sort out and if I really can't get on with the DP ones on there I've always got a blingy set of ultra adjustable Chinese ones to fall back on
I've just noticed Nick, your top yoke is polished and has no casting seam, is that standard on the S? Mine is too.
The foam inside the internal pads in the fairings is shot, in as much as you push your finger in and it doesn't spring back, it is 18+ years old after all. Does anyone know how to remove, without damaging the plastic lug, the old quick fasteners pushed onto the plastic lugs that hold the internal panel in place? TIA
Where are you in Ireland if you pay for my two week stay plus expenses ill sort it for you.....feck sake..
There should be ample adjustment for yer plates as the toe peg and footrest are both on cams iirc. Or, just throw the bling on. We all know you love a bit of gold. Glad the ride was ok. If it’s too much bike for your roads I will take it off your hands for a suitably discounted price. What are friends for after all?
Guys, it’s not my bike. Just google ducati and fire and these pics will pop up. That’s why the advice.
as exi says, snip the fasters from the outside at the shortest points gently in two opposite places and they should come off hopefully without cracking those plastic mounts
West Cork Paul, whatever you do, do not fit the gold gayboy (wack it up dry) rearsets. Now be a good boy and go and get some D.P ones. By the way what part of west Cork are you from, I have some very fond memories of West Cork.
The bike has DP rear sets on at the moment but I have bigger feet than the previous owner so they need a bit of fiddling around with. Anyway, don't you like my blingy rear sets ? I'm actually from Birmingham, via London and Hong Kong but been living here for 8 years this year. Schull, far far far West Cork.
It is indeed. FYI afaik only 405 998S deep sump were made by Ducati (excluding the 400 Bayliss Rep and 465 Boston Reps), of which only 295 were sold in Europe.
