  9. What is this part? What does it do? And why mine seems to be gunky like it’s leaking oil and mixed with dirt?

  10. Do you mean the fuel pump cover? Your circle is rather large, well from memory that's the fuel pump cover if you're referring to the Black item.

  11. Yes that black bulk. It does seem to have a cover on it. How is it sealed up? A gasket of some sort? It seems very accessible, but looks can be deceiving.

    Any tips are appreciated.

    See that ones got Zard aftermarket cans on.. prefer termis meself..

    It’s tradition on this forum Sam that when you post a picture of your bike you need to make sure there’s a rubbish bin included in shot, called wheelie bins over here as they have wheels, yours are trash bins yes? These shots are very important unless you wish to annoy @Ducbird our beautiful Monitor, beware though for she has a dark side too...

    What part of Californicationsre you from then? The Chilli region or the red hot pepper area? X

  14. I’m trying to figure if you’re serious or not about that powder thing lol if you’re serious, do tell how it works lol

    the fact that my Hypermotard Is already catless with some modded mufflers, that itself is good enough for me at the moment. I’ll post a video of how it sounds later. I’m pretty impressed myself hehe

    Hahaha I will make sure to keep that tradition from now on. Also will stop everywhere taking photos next to trash cans lol
    It really is a mix, everywhere I’ve gone in Cali, we have the ones with wheels. Some places in other states have those old school bins. They’re becoming less and less though. Enough trashy talk no puns intended

    hahaha I’m from that much spicy area lol Los Angeles so it’s a blessing to ride around, given that those imbeciles drivers allow us to live to see another day I’m also thankful for the traffic that is reduced to the COVID we really really needed it. You don’t know traffic until you visit

  16. Would the gasket/ring item #12, be the only suspect here? Anyone know the torque specs for the fuel guard bolts? I’m hoping they’re lose and need a squeeze instead of opening the whole thing and dealing with whatever unknown to come.

    Ideas? Opinions?

  18. I kept my original sensor just added a second washer. I have no idea from a technical or logical perspective why it solved the issue of the light flickering on/off at idle but it did. I do stress however, I had checked the pressure with a gauge to ensure it was just the sensor playing up and there was not a bigger issue causing it.
     
  19. The black bit is bolted over the fuel pump assembly, there’s no gasket between that and the bottom of the tank. It’s there to keep the shite from the road and/or heat of the exhaust away from the fuel pipes that it covers. It’s held in place by the 4 nuts #4 in your diagram.

    suspect for what? #12 is the fuel pump sealing o-ring which seals the fuel pump assembly against the base of the tank and stops fuel leaking out. Whilst easy enough to get out it can be a bit tricky to reseat and there’s a knack to it using over size bolts.

    The nuts to the fuel pump assembly guard, part #2 in the diagram, should come undone easy enough but have probably been loctited. When redoing them up I don’t use a torque wrench just do them until they’re tight ie resistance us felt then a 1/4 turn more. The loctite holds them in place and they’re not structural.
     
  20. I’ll check for sure the pressure first before attempting that fix. Hopefully it solves it. Otherwise I might just replace the sensor itself.
