1260 Throttle Spacers

  1. Your not the only one that has not found any issues, I have put over 60,000 k's on my DVT and now 1260 and found no strange traits

  2. My 1260 throttle has a bit of play but never noticed anything, throttle off to on is flawless. If the bike is harsh or abrupt in this transition it's hard to see how removing play would have any effect as you're still going from throttle off to on. Although it certainly would improve wrist control issues

  3. Broduc, ref your statement
I wasn't implying every Multi rider was inexperienced or a bad rider, it's just that I find it hard to see how just a little play before throttle take up can cause such a problem

I’ve been riding since 1980, everything from a Garelli Tiger across (old enough to remember those?) GSX1000 Shaft drive (evil beast) blackbirds, ZZR1400s and my last 5 bikes have all been Multistradas from the 2010 through to my latest 1260, I ride (apart from this year) around 7.5 to 8k and this is the only MTS that I have noticed this, it doesn’t bother me when I’m on my own but I ride an awful lot with the dear wife on the back and this throttle action makes it to difficult to get a smooth throttle response going on and off the throttle which does become tiresome, first one I have had this issue with and different to cable throttles - yes I remember those!!! So it’s natural to try to find a solution. Im also not about to show you a picture of my cock to ruin another of your theory’s lol

  4. No problem my friend. I wasn’t suggesting they are all like this, but it is pretty common. And of course we all ride differently, so maybe your throttle control has just a bit more finesse....

  5. Hi you don't say what model you have, but do you know if the throttle spacers you have used will fit a 1260 Diavel 2019 model.
    Thanks

  6. Mine is the 1260 MTS which the spacers on ebay and shown here do not fit, the 1260 uses just one spacer that clips on, I really don't know about the Diavel

The only way to check would be to take off the throttle body and have a look unless someone has already done it, I will post some photos later today so you can see what to expect.

I have had this spacer in now for a few weeks and it is a vast improvement, specially in sport mode where the throttle action is so much smoother, especially when coming off the throttle where previously is was very jerky as previously discussed by many others. I was a sceptic and its a lot of money for a little piece of plastic but for a solution to the problem its priceless :) so happy is the wife as I get to keep it in sport mode all the time now and enjoy the full fat setting woohooooo

  7. Thanks for getting back, I was thinking of trying a spacer kit (if there is one for my bike) to try and eliminate the engine hunting when not under load and on a neutral throttle. The bike performs well otherwise, its just spoils it when the engine hunts its like someone is fiddling with a switch, not dangerous but frustrating.

  8. You simply need to get in contact with Nelly @ CornerSpeed.
He can supply you with the spacer kit and is a genuinely helpful guy, who often posts on this forum. His contact details are a little further back in this thread.
Give him a shout and he'll no doubt sort you out with a set.:upyeah:

  9. Thanks for the info, is it necessary to order from the States or is there a UK outlet for these.

  10. ^^^^^^^^^^Look up, the answer is in the previous reply.:)

  11. Cheers, but do you have info for he's website, couldn't fine any more details apart from what you supplied ie Nelly@ CornerSpeed I'm a bit of a dinosaur when it comes to the web etc.

  12. Here's a photo of the 1260 kit and the install, also have the two piece kit for the 1200 if anyone wants one cheap cheap cheap!!

  13. Thanks guys , had a chat with Nelly, and he was very honest with me and didn't think a spacer would help with my particular problem ( dear old euro 5 emissions )

  14. Welp, picked up the bike, a tonne of play in the throttle, got home, installed the spacer, went for a ride. Night and day! Best mod in my opinion.

  15. Hi all,

I’m a little late to this party-but my thoughts.

Firstly- everyone here has a valid point - and we are all different. Snatchy throttle. I’ve had bikes like the early 950/990 KTM’s! Remember those? A proper snatchy throttle. Loads of solutions on the market but nothing really worked as it all focused on throttle action and as some one here has said none of the solutions change the problem which is throttle on/off.

So I have a little experience, been on bikes for 40years, makes me feel old. Been a London based courier, for 10 years, been a motorcycle instructor with my own successful/very busy school for 17 years. Owned well over 100 personal bikes, I’m a (was) bike mechanic, have ridden around 2.5 million miles in those 40 years!

And yes-I still struggle with snatchy throttles!

The spacers, they work by simply taking the play out, the more play the quicker your hand / wrist is moving by the time the throttle hits the open/closed position- it’s as simple as that. Some of us are naturally better at motor skills with our wrist then others! Doesn’t mean we are better or worse riders.

I found in general with teaching new riders that if I took all the free play out of the throttle cables my students would always have a less snatchy throttle control! Much more noticeable with new riders. The trade off is more of them would end up with the throttle still on when stopping or changing gear, that few mm of slack makes a big difference.

    Just my thoughts

  16. 1260 S with full Termi and upmap here - my throttle seems quite smooth (marvelously so in first gear) but I ordered the kit to see if it can be better, or the same with less effort.

  17. Same bike and exhaust system, once you have it, you won't want to be without it.
