Bloody hell!! Be careful mate, you’ve put the chain back on the wrong side On serious note it looks mint, but the gap between seat unit and air box looks very tight. With riding it will flex and chip the paint off. Are the spacers/washers inbetween the frame and seat hinge in place or need a touch more?
Haha well spotted pic got reversed! Already adjusted the seat by moving the locating pin so hopefully it doesn’t rub against the airbox panel. Do I need spacers as well ?
@cookster 's right @Shorty4045 -= he has the link pipe and I have the 50mm CF Termi's - check the Parts for sale section.
Very happy with the final result including general tidy up and battery switch back to stock from Lithium
Beautiful bike @Shorty4045 Reminds me of my own! Just out of interest, why did you change back to a standard battery from Lithium?
My bike has the original rectifier and electrics and there seems to be an increased risk of fire when combined with LiFe which I’d really like to avoid Lots of reports on this forum by more knowledgeable people than me! If you are using LiFe battery check out the rectifier upgrades and make sure your insurance company knows because if your bike catches fire I’m sure they will not pay out if you have ‘non original’ parts fitted that they weren’t aware of, especially if that was the cause of the damage ...
Ahhh, fair enough.. I've had a Lithium battery fitted for about 3 years / 10k miles. So far, so good... You've made me nervous now, though
I'd be tempted to do my 916, but I do have a thing for its patina. Its all my patina as Ive owned it since it was 18mnths old and 3k miles. Its at 27k. But I have some flaky paint and surface rust on frame, so I may just get the frame done up. But I do like what other have done to their engines and maybe a stitch in time and all that. Plus I am still on the hunt for 100mm 6 bolt ohlins radial adapter brackets. I have 108mm on atm after swapping my 40mm ones but I have to use 748r/998r discs for their offset and theyre expensive. I'd like to use my old 916 discs as I prefer the look of them.
Beautiful work! About insurance companies not paying for damage related to non original parts, are you serious? Is it a UK insurance thing? What about wheels? Tires? Brakes (pads, discs, calipers, master cylinders)? Clutches? I mean everybody fiddles with these, don’t they? Batteries are « expendable » and will be replaced after a while, won’t they? Do insurance companies ban certain batteries in the UK?
Thanks! At renewal I’m always asked if there are any aftermarket options fitted. I’m sure there’s no premium attached to a LiFe battery but if not declared it could give them wriggle room to not pay out on an expensive claim, especially if it were the cause of the claim. (Same is true for health insurance)
