well it was a race kit with errrrrrrrr (forgot) 8 or 9 slim alloy friction plates now I didnt use the original stainless rings and used the fatter ones I had already as I thought "they look bloody slim" the kit had about 4 convex rings in upon very close inspection. all the kit stainless rings were about 1.25 / 1.3 mm (new) and the carbon/kevlar friction plates 2.5mm I gapped it according to your advice having about 3.35mm from the inner drum. I googled on the web and fitted all 4 convex. its now lovely. clutch feeds in nice and no slippage upon testing it... this must be a discontinued kit as I cant find any reference to it. but is a genuine DP part (came in box from a ducati shop) I had it for months before I finally fitted it. your da man - respect  (edit) and to top it off i had started with a stainless ring
I'v been looking at the service history of my 749r today. The clutch was serviced about 4000 miles ago. One item says 'clutch stripped, inspected, cleaned and plates SHUFFLED for best wear'. Could this be causing my clutch problems ?
even if it was new its tosh, 3 ramps no balls so its very uneven and unsupported to the drum can move causes stuff to rattle screech and scrunch...junk it! get a 6 ramp and ball one.....
I made an offer of 1/2 the buy now on Andy's to; STM Original FDU-S060 Slipper Clutch 1098 1198 Streetfighter Desmosedici | eBay and got me one. or dare I say convert to a standard clutch. Andy is right, from personal experience the DP ole 3 ramper is Shyte!
I disagree. It's not "The Best Slipper Clutch In The World" however....it does work if it is adjusted correctly and properly maintained. I have a 6 ramp/ball slipper in my 916SPS (which is currently having a "Year Off"). If the R clutch was SOOO terrible I would swap them over. It ain't, so I CBA. R XX
I hope your right Ricky. My mate is going to strip my clutch down on Saturday and see if he can improve it. Fingers crossed.
Quick question . We are just about to re stack the clutch plates. one of them has a stamped dot. Anyone know what it means ? thanks
