  1. By eck!
Was there evidence of loctite on the splines?

  2. I did not want it to defeat me, so I gave it everything!! lol

  3. No sign of anything on the splines, it was tight to pull all the way off...

  4. The sprag clutch looks a bit strange - don’t remember those yellow plastic looking cages on mine.
Perhaps a non OEM “mod” by a previous owner?

  5. That was puzzling me a bit, its a 2016 ex demonstrator bike I bought from a Ducati dealer with 500 miles on clock (now 30,000).
The part number for 2017 model year was changed for these parts, I bet they had a problem with the plastic bits and upgraded, it was never recalled for this but I am going to check if it should have been....
Starting is a pretty harsh function and plastic bits in there have to be a little suspect don't you think?

  6. Multistrada Enduro

Does anyone know if 2016 and 2017 starter clutch parts are interchangeable?

  7. Aha - ignore me - my comments relate to 1*98!

  8. New parts arrived.
I bought a starter flange kit from Ducati...

You will see its a metal caged clutch..
Now to put it all back together...

  9. I know the Sprag clutch used to be a problem on Aprilia’s and you were always warned to have a really fully charged battery

  10. Eventually, I got the bike back together.
Made myself a flywheel holding tool for when tightening the nut from an old car brake disc.
It now starts up straight away.
