Your standard sprocket has the rubber sides, helps to reduce noise, did you say it’s done 15,000 miles? I would be tempted to replace it as a whole set
A great idea up to around 30 brake but can cause problems even before sprocket teeth wear out on anything much greater, particularly if constantly subjected to oil and chain lube.
The mouldings are external only. They only reduce whip and jump to reduce noise. They are quieter when new. Sprocket is same thickness plus the damper ring on each side for the side plates to ride on, wears out rapidly if chain tension is not correct or sprocket worn. Low power bikes have spline core moulded to sprocket like a Cush drive. High torque motors rip that type to shreds. The one shown has done it’s job and worn because of side plate slap and certainly sprocket wear. Change it or Change as a set. Chains and sprockets are consumables.
There is a simply method to clean the bins! Lie the bin on its front. Chuck in one of the kids. Lid Will then drop into the closed position. Pass in bucket of water and soap and a decent torch. Check when work is done. Don’t let the kid out until inspected. Hose down kid and rinse bin. Works a treat…. So I’m told.
Rode my bike, YAY. It was a nice day here so went over to Ducati Worcester for a nosey and a chat. Lots of bikes in the showroom with, what I’d guess, 90% of them sold. Like the look of the Multi V2S I’ve missed riding my bike.
Sounds like you agree then, despite the "damper rings" * - a bad idea for the more high powered applications. *will have to research the designed-in "ride-on" bit, sounds ridiculous to me..
Two types being discussed. Solid sprocket with bonded on external damper rings. The rings reduce slap/whip and resonance. Quieter. Lower of the chain side plates are damped as they enter mesh by glancing ring contact, the ride on bit, which wears out the ring. You can see the mess made of the “rubber rings” in the photos. Sprocket almost certainly cream crackered. Second type which I think you have in mind. Hub and separate sprocket through bonded together. Lower torque/ power transmission but less alignment critical used on a lot of industrial applications and smaller capacity bikes etc. cheaper to make, mix and match teeth and hubs. Front sprocket I would suggest definitely needs replacing. I would replace the set. Best practice, each to their own. Personally I would use plain solid sprockets of good quality. Adjust chain regularly and use decent lube.

thanks, useful info. I’ve had the bike 1 week so I’ll get on it, the Bike has some chain ‘whine’ at low speeds even though it’s adjusted fine, so it’s probably where it’s worn, I’ll change them and go down a tooth at the front probably at the same time
