I've always used Castro racing lube and never had a problem. Cover any paint work with a rag, rotate the wheel on a paddock stand and spray onto the inside of the chain! Always worked for me
As above using paraffin,for the last year or so switched to castrol racing chain lube,seems the best to me,very little fling,chain has not needed adjusting in about 3500 miles,easy to clean off,does not become pasty and attract dust n dirt,all a matter of opinion but that's the one for me now.
I used Putoline stuff and brushed it in with an old toothbrush. Worked a treat and the chain looks new and loved again
