It's worth noting amongst all the vitriol being aimed at EJ that the previous outing for this team was against the World Champions, who they beat. For large chunks of yesterday's match England were head and shoulders above Scotland in terms of dominance, possession and control of the game. The penalty count was heavily in England's favour, Smith's try was sublime and the England pack bossed the scrum comfortably. One 'lucky' breakaway try and a moment's stupidity does not detract from an otherwise good performance from a team missing several first choice players that had to be put together on the fly in the week leading in to the game. Well done Scotland, a win's a win and the score board is the final arbiter of who did best on the day but I for one would not write off Eddie Jones and England on the basis of that performance.
The white cocks will be pressing the accelerator pedal in the second half, lets hope the Italians can get another try and give them a game.
So, after that… England didn’t command the game and Scotland took advantage to win… Wales got trounced by Ireland… France expectedly beat Italy but not as comfortably as one would have expected. As usual, expect the unexpected and enjoy the matches. Job done.
Can’t argue with that. Alas Jones seems unable, or unwilling, to change tactics when plan A isn’t working. Same in World Cup final. Same in most games we lose actually.
100% in agreement with you on the above statement, a great tournament start and i picked all the winners except for you know who, the Italians did well the first 30 minutes and just need a win for that confidence booster.
The difference being of course, If Scotland go on and lose all the rest of their games this tournament they'd still th Yes, and our season is now ruined whatever else happens, whereas the jocks is now one of their best ever whatever else happens.
First up on the pitch today's Scotland against Wales, we know what the jocks have in their armour now based on last week daytrip, let's hope the Welsh have reset for a tight entertaining game.
Well i enjoyed that match as a neutral, Scotland just didn't put them to the sword, well done the red shirts.
