  2. On where ?

  3. Called Bemoto to get a proper quote to change bikes. Cost to change was surprisingly low. They want a tracker on the Pikes Peak due to the value though, so I’ve asked them to find an alternative company.

  7. Went for a ride - really nice until... got back on the bike after a cuppa and set off for a few miles home. About a mile in the clutch lever had no resistance against it then the clutch stopped lifting...
Managed to change gear ok without the clutch but realised I couldn't stop as if I did the bike would stall...
Picked a route in my head that I figured I could get pretty close to home without stopping but got caught out a mile later by temporary traffic lights on red. Bike stalled in middle of lane and couldn't push it off the road as it was stuck in gear and I couldn't find neutral...
Used the starter to move the bike - and it fired into life ! Carefully rode the bike home and managed to get home without having to stop :)
Pulled the clutch apart and the centre nut had come loose... Loctited / torqued back up and working properly again now :)

  8. 94AA8B1B-B245-4575-ADAE-DD83D584A95A.jpeg Fitted a pair of 90s era cast iron brembo disk rotors to my 916 to replace the slightly warped oem ones. Found PO hadn’t applied any grease to the front axle so it was a bit reluctant to come out. All greased up as per manual on reassembly

  11. Went and looked at my bikes... batteries being cared for by optimates, etc... went out for beer & Indian...

  12. Washed the new bike for the first time after a spirited blat through some muddy roads.
Mud from tractors coupled by the councils over enthusiasm with the use of road salt made for one dirty ride.

  13. Yesterday after a ride I washed the V4S, today I’ve cleaned the chain with Motul aerosol cleaner, dried off with an old tee shirt then lubricated with Motul C5 Chain Paste. I found it easier to take the brush off, apply paste and work in with the brush. Looks good now.

After a cup of tea I might do the Himalayans chain.

  14. How you getting on with the Himalaya ?

  15. We bought it new, a Euro 4 last July, we hang it off the back of the camper and use it as local transport, I use it for local journeys at home. As a 411 cc single that cost about £4K it’s brilliant.

  16. Fitted a Lithium Iron battery to the monster, what a fiddle connecting the spades to the battery terminals.

  17. Found some corroded bolts on the Monkey, it’s been ridden a handful of times on gritted roads, and washed after every ride, so I’ve ordered a complete set of stainless bolts to replace them all. Just need to try and find the torque settings for everything once they arrive.

  18. Clearly not thoroughly enough. :D

  19. Often stainless bolts cannot be torqued, be careful and avoid using them on brake calipers and the frame.

  20. You can find torque settings for stainless screws on the internet, check which grade of stainless you have A2 or A4 are the usual suspects.
The torque settings will be less then steel screws, also use a light coat of copperslip.
