UPDATE: One week today since the bike dumped its oil and still no wiser as to the cause. Dealer claims to be investigating failure with Ducati UK but I suspect they are more interested in getting bikes prepped for new registrations at this time of year than sorting out my problem. No courtesy bike on offer either as he claims his only two are already out. Contacted Ducati UK who stated their technical department are liaising with dealer regarding failure but have no control over provision of replacement bike. Totally pissed off with utter lack of urgency, help or goodwill from Ducati or dealer.
Twitter is your friend in this instance. Write some derogatory remarks on their UK based page and/or preferably Ducati's own account. Sit back and wait for their response. That will usually get their attention.
Pretty shoddy and I suspect you could be right about where their attention might be focussed: new bikes. Unfortunate timing on your part. The new vehicle buying experience seems to have changed over the last couple of years, particularly with luxury brands. You’d assume the shift in attitude is linked to the apparent ability to sell everything they can currently make. If the media is to be believed, this situation will change and the motor trade will be one of the first to feel it. I wonder if the whole dealership will shift at this point.
It does seem that there is more money floating around than ever before. The dealers don't seem to care at all, as they can just sell to someone else. That's poor treatment right enough. I'm not sure where all the money is coming from.
Covid grants or government money spent like water. A good proportion fraudulently obtained. The bubble is about to burst big time though.
Have had an oil leak develop on my PP after 1800 miles. To be fair my dealer have been outstanding! Told me to bring bike in straight away for their mechanic to take a look (it was only a smallleak). He took the bike straight into the workshop and found a small leak coming from the waterpump area. Hooked me up with a courtesy bike whilst they wait for the required parts to arrive!! Cant grumble !!
Just been reading this thread. This is what I found on my 2 month old 3300 mile V4S Multi yesterday. Noticed a small weep on the LH engine cover (had this before on my V4 Streetfighter and it turned out to be water pump) further investigation with my bore scope revealed oil and debris in the "V" between the cylinders, it only came back on Friday after spending 2 weeks at the dealers trying to get the evap canister / tank breather sorted (after it blew fuel out of the fuel cap riding back from Italy) and the poorly fitting tank panels / fuel cap panel which happened during World Ducati Week trip. Not a happy bunny at the moment.
Better still chronologically list the event from the start and send it duk head honcho tell him even though you feel you havnt been treated well you have resisted going loud on social media about the appalling quality of service Would he like the opportunity to rectify this before you escalate!
When my V2 Multi pumped oil out it was from the oil cooling radiator connector pipe working loose (just outside warranty).
**Further Update - last I hope!** Two weeks to the day since my Multi V4S dumped its oil I collected the bike from the dealer. It’s been fitted with a new oil pump, a new water pump, new valve cover sealant and new rear tyre. The problem has been explained as some sort of pressure build up which caused oil to be forcibly ejected through the valve cover as a result of badly applied sealant. What caused the pressure build up they cannot say but replaced all the above on the advice of Ducati. Dealer suspects the oil pump as the new one is a different part number to the original and has modified seals! Bike was extensively road tested +100 miles to ensure no further issues before being returned. Still waiting for Ducati to address my kit ruined by hot oil. Whilst the dealer worked quickly to repair the bike, still astonished that no loan bike was forthcoming from them or Ducati. Hope no one else experiences a similar problem. Thanks for all your helpful comments.
Well, it would certainly appear that QA control within the Ducati fraternity is performing as well as ever, NOT! Ludicrous approach to dealing with customers and their genuine concerns, which clearly they shouldn't be exposed to, in the event a professional organisation like Ducati purports to be, behaves in the appropriate manner...... A lot to improve upon?
Just wanted to let people know that I've had this oil leak from my V4PP. Seems it's rare, but it's definitely a thing. Dealer has done 3 or 4 others with this (across all V4 engines I think, not MTS only). It also seems like Ducati know what this is as rather than throwing the kitchen sink at it like they did with @Gothrick above, it was straight away identified as the water pump and an issue with the seal/liquid gaskets used on the pump and also something within the pump. My leak's location looked exactly like @Edward Hitler above. First thing I noticed is that the bike went from using no oil to suddenly needing a topup. Anyway, hopefully have the bike back soon and that's the end of it.
Hope this link to the USA Ducati forum works https://www.ducati.ms/threads/multistrada-v4-pikes-peak-oil-leak.744104/page-2#post-7246396 Customer managed to get his PP replaced as a result of the oil leak! American Ducati customer service seems a lot better than ours.
A new bike!!! I wish. Wonder if this was early on and they really didn't know what it was, so they kept that bike for investigation for others down the road. That would make sense, I doubt they've given a new bike to everyone over there.
When I rejected my PP this year I was offered a replacement, I decided not to take it as this would have put some other chap waiting longer for his bike as this would have been taken from current stock at the time and as it worked out shortly after this offer the PP supply dried up / extended. My dealer was fantastic and I had a new V4s in 2 weeks as he scoured for a bike and found one with no effect on another waiting customer.
