On the ferry, due to dock at 2045 but it was a close call….. The parts I needed were not available locally, they’d have to have been ordered from Ducati Spain (5-7 days if they had them) Getting no response from Euro breakdown so sorted own recovery to Bilbao on Monday for Tuesday ferry (departure time 1400) Told the recovery co that boat sailed at 1400, had to be there 1300 latest. They said they’d pick us up at 0800. 0820 I’m calling to find out where the driver is, “5 minutes” he says… Load bike and on our way just before 9. his truck is limited to 90kmh & he doesn’t speak a word of English & my Spanish is worse! With the use of Google translate I reiterate ferry times etc, to which he replies “we should have left earlier!” An hour out, Google maps says arrival 13:15 so I call the port & explain that we are likely to arrive at 13:30. No problem they say. When we arrive, we stop in the car park to unload, a Spanish guy is shouting & waving at us, he runs over and tells us to drive through check in! We go through passport control, escorted onto the boat where we are unloaded, I think the driver thought he was going to UK!! No sooner did he drive out was the ramp going up, talk about skin of our teeth!! UK recovery already been in contact saying the recovery veh will be at the port on our arrival A week less holiday than planned but it is what it is, could have been a lot worse.
Am I alone in thinking that Ducati should have informed all owners that the disc bolts should be checked?
Its an owners responsibility to ensure his bike is roadworthy. Any bolt has the ability to unwind itself in the wrong circumstances.
You’re right, never have I owned a bike where the disc bolts need checking. In fact when I’ve changed discs on any other bike, the fekkin bolts have never wanted to come out without heat & serious effort!
Does anyone know what the difference is between the calipers from the 12 to 14, as there’s one on eBay, but they are different part numbers? Looking at discs, is there any other options for the ABS ring to be fitted - all the discs I’ve looked at don’t seem to have the holes for fitment.

That one is cosmetically different to my spare but overall looks right. If it helps, I have a used but still very useable rear disc that I replaced with a race disc on my track Multistrada that I can sell. Andy
I no longer have my 2014 MTS1200GT, but a quick check lists the part number for the rear caliper as: 61140311A, and this seems to be the same for a number of 2012 & 14 Multistrada models. Thanks all, chap breaking a same year Multi has sorted me a caliper & hanger. Andy, thanks for the offer of the disc, but I will get a brand new - I’m assuming your track disc didn’t support the ABS ring?
RTD- Yes onward journey home went very well, the UK breakdown called me on the ferry and informed me Motorcycle SOS would be waiting for us on our arrival.

OK, you got me. The point I’m making is that if they felt the need to send out a service bulletin due to failures (which there’s been a few) why not send it out to owners?
I’ve just received an axle complete with disc, but the disc is the later 165 dia item. I’m assuming the later caliper (black caliper) has an adaptor to give the clearance as the caliper bracket is the same part number for all years? I know the calipers themselves are different!…… handy as I’ve just bought this one
