Under fork yoke front stand for 848

  1. are they off your batman utlity belt ;-)

  2. might be............i bought a front stand from italy although the importers were 2 miles from work..........you got a box of these with it to suit a variety of fixes........i think the small one is for the 848,.........

  3. I had about 8 came with mine headstock and none actually fit properly, its a large hole from memory

  4. Thanks guys. As it is for the track, the abba stand type options are not quite what i had in mind, but thanks. I have an abba stand, which I also do the strap trick with for workshop use when needed, but if you use a ratchet strap, it is even easier as it is then a one man job.....

My experiences are more like Bradders - they foul the fairing, and the pins (13mm - 19mm inc) are all miles too small. I need to stick a vernier caliper on it to see what size the hole actually is, but I am away from home on hols at the moment so can't check.

Otherwise I will stick to under fork variants for track, but they are a lot less secure to use.....

  5. My alternative is a scaffold pole. I put it between the rafters in my garage wall to wall. Then use a ratchet strap or two around headstock and scaffold pole. However I always worry and Radi's option looks much safer for me.

  6. Tbh I woldnt take my front wheelout using that abba solution, looks like one knock and it would be over. Rather either use under forks lift or, if forks coming out and underheadstock not avaialable, long bar thru the frame and tall axle stands either side with rear stand fitted

  7. I had the same problem on a Gsxr 750 so I used a long reach socket that fitted the hole. then found the pin that fitted that the best put that pin on the stand and then put the socket over that I think I used a spark plugs socket ( a bit of a bodge I know ) but it worked had it on the stand for two weeks

  8. Bradders. It's solid as you like. No way it will fall over...

  9. Guys,

Thanks, but does no-one actually know of a normal under the fork yoke stand that fits? Just like every race bike in the paddock? I want this for track not to do garage work as I already have a good garage.

Pierobon make one I am sure at about £450 per stand, but isn't there any other option?

  10. mine was from italy the importers are from northampton........i just cant remember the name of it good quality cost me £100 just under
    ..

let me think about it tom

  11. It was a while ago, but in sure on the old site I recall this being asked and there wasn't one made specifically for the 848. Is the stem a narrower diameter than the 1098/1198?

  12. that abba stand add on is very clever

i bought the FS11/D too from probike after recommends from other on here,

great bit of kit fitted my 998 with ohiins bottom yoke
dont use it on track though as it does take a little longer (10-15 seconds) and a bit more care to put on and take off than the under fork bottom type

if you can measure the size of the hole (use a socket to find a snug fit) i will measure the bits to see if they supply one to fit your 848

cost me £ 115.20 all inc vat and delivery

  13. Ian, I've got a stand from proBike that has the same selection of pins as Andy has posted. When you're back, pop round and borrow it if you want. The (small diameter) one that was supplied was a little too long, so I had a local buddy take a couple of cm off it on his lathe.
