I managed to find a '22 MTS V4/V4S workshop manual online. Here's what it says for caliper bolt torque:
Here's a few off the top of head, that I've used on all my Multistrada's, think they came from a 1200DVT workshop manual, nothing's fallen off yet. Front Caliper Bolts 45nm Front Axle nut 63nm Axle pinch bolts, PP Ohlins, 19nm Fr. Disc bolts. 30nm Rear wheel nut 230nm Rear Hub pinch bolts 35nm Rear Caliper Bolts 25nm
There is a process for doing up the front brake caliper bolts: o Refit callipers with spacers, torque to 2 Nm o Pull the brake lever many times o Hold brake lever to the bars and torque to 45 Nm
That's great, thanks all. The calipers and bolts are the same as the V4S but the fork lowers are different (Ohlins). Is it still 45nm? Being a Ducati newbie - where do you normally get the work shop manual from? Do I need to contact my dealer?
Serious question, do Ducati expect owners to take their bikes to their dealer every time the chain needs adjusting?
And if you don't they threaten your warranty... what a joke, WTF is wrong with manufacturers lately... so they want you to check your chain, fluid levels, air pressures, etc....as a pre-ride check and if you find any of those items out of spec you must bring it to an authorized ducati shop
They’re covering their arses, as a lot of folk don’t know how to do it. This has happened since Audi took over.
Two tier charging (at the dealership) may be an answer? Routine work could be left to the apprentices whilst the more skilled work is taken on by the more experienced staff.
What about the days before we all owned torque wrenches? I always measured in terms of breakfast, i.e really tight equals full english. The bottom of Ohlins forks are a light continental. Rear wheel on a Multi? Different. Beads of sweat on your forehead and then stop. All this lbs ft is confusing. And getting the dealer to adjust your chain? Hand your man card in at reception please!
I always loved this parody of the Haynes manual, what Haynes says and what it really means Haynes: Rotate anticlockwise. Translation: Clamp with molegrips (or adjustable wrench) then beat repeatedly with hammer anticlockwise. You do know which way is anticlockwise, don't you? I have no shame in admitting that my dealer adjusts my chain. I really don’t care what anyone thinks. My wife also does all the DIY and gardening in our house. But I can knock up a cracking roast.
