  3. You're my hero today

  4. But what do i buy to fix it?

  5. a lump hammer?

  6. so with lump hammer in hand i just called my parts mate at OYB aylesbury adn im soon to be the lucky recipient of
    - that wire repair kit thing
    - fuel filter
    - o ring
    - 2 posh eared clamp thingies for filter to hose

and im now 130 quid poorer. yes i could have got the parts cheaper but i really couldnt be bothered

    thanks @RickyX

  7. Glad it solved the mystery. All **9 owners should have two to make troubleshooting easier!

  8. I seem to recall you have 2 different colours of the 749?

  10. ok so why does the original wire thingy have an additional wire that looks like an earth and attaches to the fuel filter mounting yet the repair kit (same part no as has been bought by others on this thread) does not have it?

  11. This was noticed when I got the new loom-ette.
I modified the new one to match the old one (with a kind contribution of a connector from @Sev).

  12. buggerage. i was hoping i could do away with it. i prized away the crimped wire from the black connector but damaged the black connector in doing so.

  13. I think the replacement part is actually for an ST3 if I remember correctly.

  14. @RickyX @chrisw
    Found this thread invaluable, thanks.
Daft q - I’ve got the fuel filter on order, already have the new O ring. Just can’t source “Oetiker 123 single ear clips”
Lots of different numbers, just not 123.
Could you help me find those?

    SteinDinse part:
    Should I get the 51020032A or the 51020032A-Z ?
Not much difference in price but It’s not clear to me what the difference is.

And (sorry), the extra wire (earth), did you just ask a mate to make that up for you back then Ricky? There is perhaps someone who could do it for me, but might have to give it a go.

    TIA
    Caroline

  15. I used double ear clamps. I compressed them with some pincers (not the genuine tool). From memory you need 11-13mm. EBay is your friend.

  19. i have 51020032A and im sure thats what the others got based on the previous thread on this. note that there is a earth wire that needs to be added as long as formed part of your original assembly. if so, i now have received the terminals so will get mine made up soon and show the end result

  20. the parts catalogue has the number for the single use clamps and you need a pincer tool if you want to get it factory
