  1. So, i never knew this was a thing....the old boy whoose now got the wheels asked for the "offset" for them...not a fucking clue!! has anyone else ever heard of that?

  2. funny that - I was thinking yesterday - did you check the wheel offset before relacing, etc?! Wheel offset is how off-centre the hub is from the rim (if at all).

(btw - haven't forgotten about your 400/4 - just been busy!)

  3. Hey Keith ( no prob ) its not going anywhere....whenever youve got some time!

Yep wheel offset - who knew...ironically the same bloke built the 400/4 wheels and never asked the question!?

  4. Perhaps 'cos the 400/4 had no offset.

If you can't get a figure for the correct offset you'd have to go old-school - get the wheel loosely trued with zero offset, pop it in the bike and measure left & right gaps to somewhere significant (swingarm/frame/whatever) then adjust to suit... Urgh!

  5. yeah - suppose i could remove the swing arm, build the front end up and then he can test fit....posted on the af1 forum - i did find this.. (copy and paste incoming)

    "I recently had to do this as I had a 5.0 Excel put on a standard hub, as the 5.5 is too wide in my opinion. These are the standard 5.5 rim values;
Brake disc land to edge of rim: 4.55mm
Sprocket land to edge of rim: 24.85mm"

  6. Result! Assuming you've got 5.5" rims. If you haven't got 5.5" your wheel lacer can use those figures and adjust...

  7. Built a few wheels, 'moto and enduro, so yes knew about the offset.... I found truing a supermoto wheel isn't that hard if your methodical and take your time ... I'm never going to be the fastest wheel builder tho' :joy:

You could always try phoning central wheel and ask them for the offset ?

  8. I think im good - one of the lads on the AF1 forum had a loose set, took some measurements and photos....ive sent them on along with the offset sizes - just waiting to hear back if thats enough....

  9. Another good sunday in the garage. On the downside when i laced the wheels up i got a few spokes wrong on the rear wheel but stupidly thought "he'll sort that out..." he didnt so it came back "you got some spokes on the wrong side mate" - so relaced the wheel on saturday ready for it to be done this week at some point....

The front wheel is now sealed with the tyre on so thats now running a tubeless tyre.

  10. Forks are in with the front wheel on. Removed a load more alloy for powder coating....Radiator fan guards, rear numberplate hanger. Stripped the rear caliper and the arrow tailsection are off for cerakoating.

  11. Having a few issues with the front light...turns out theres a different sized "mudguard stay" for the two types of light...ive got the one for the old light...theyre like rocking horse shit so will have to run with the old light initially...

  12. Plan this weekend is to get the back wheel on - by which time i should have the rear caliper back along with the rear section of the exhaust but thatll have to wait until the headers turn up. Gonna leave the headers as bare ti so they "blue up" but the rear section will be cerakote black as that it virtually hidden but all you can see are the sides but if its blacked out it'll disappear into the look of the bike...

New tyre on order for the rear wheel as the old one was fucked. Should be here on tuesday.
