  1. Is there a 530 version? I can only find 520/525 online

  2. You couldn't make that up! :joy::joy::joy:

  3. Poetic licence..........:p

  4. Those instructions are a bit miss leading , see photos of my chain , no oil just soap and water and a rag.
I think its a guide for the stupid. I spoke to Regina direct and as he said , no oil needed just general sensible maintenance but again no cleaners or chain oil.:upyeah::upyeah::)

  5. No 530 in the HPE version according to their web site but I'm sure plenty of ppl have fitted 525 chains with matching sprockets to their multi

  6. Yes, easy enough to do, I used ESJOT sprockets and an RK chain. Andy

  7. The Regina document linked in #20, states, “to guarantee its best functionality and aesthetics over time, follow 3 simple rules, (1) clean and lubricate the chain after washing the bike, using the bike in wet conditions and/or salty or dusty conditions, before storage (2) relubricate the chain once a year (3) check the tension every 3000km. I appreciate your experience but I’ll stick to my RK chain and follow Reginas’s maintenance regime :D Andy

  8. I’ll stick with mine :joy::joy::joy: I may even put a bit of hells oil on in the next 6 k , but ….

  9. Yikes! That is one expensive chain. "DID 525 ZVM-X2 Gold & Gold Chain, 124 links, 525 size" 141 euro from Carpimoto delivered to California. Regina HPE is 350 euro plus shipping and Regina says they don't go any longer than a standard chain. That is also supported by user reports.

  10. Some of the reviews I’ve read say around 15000km before it gives up.

  11. Well I have 3 k (miles) to go on that case before it fails :joy: but still feel many more 1000’s of miles how many who knows but reason would show 15k (miles) the chain is like new still . On my 21 plate Multi v4 with the standard chain , it as looking shot at 3 k , but that’s oem grey chains. My mate runs a standard gold ring on his bike and is meticulous at maintenance and his is as clean but takes him over an hour to clean , oil , then hand remove the excess oil after , the point for me is the ease of maintenance. The cost high , but palatable. IMHO

  12. An hour?! I can clean and re-wax my chain in under ten minutes. Not as quick as yours, granted, but if the cost of the Regina a few posts up is correct, maybe I'll stick to doing it my way. For the record, I never lube or adjust my chains when on a trip, never have and never will, and all have been fine.

  13. I’ve always used the high spec DID x ring, usually give me around 20k miles, before I replace all 3 items. Usually need 1 initial adjustment after fitting then nothing. As they start to need regular adjustment it tends to be on going so that’s the time I fit new.

  14. He polishes the chain after so it looks like mine . Last trip others did lube once as the rain and dust dried them out a bit , me no , sat in the bar having an extra beer lol

  15. Same, but the quality of the plating on DID chains is beyond terrible. I use simple green as a cleaning solution and either basic gear oil from an oil can or XCP spray lube if on a tour. Yet it still looks like crap after 5k.

It's a shame the HPE version has no 530 option, I could go to 525/520, but I'm picky and prefer 530 :D

  16. Curious to know why you prefer the 530. Run my track bike on a 520 (weight and inertia saving) and have had no issues. My Multistrada V4 comes with a 525 as standard. Andy

  17. Absolutely no other reason than 'cos it's bigger'. I know it makes almost zero difference in the real world, I'm just fussy haha

  18. I can confirm, 525 makes no noticeable difference, seems to be lasting ok though, one adjustment in 4k miles.

  19. The quality of DID chains supplied to manufacturers is shite, which is why I always junk mine before getting the bike, and replacing with a DID gold chain, which is much better quality.
