Ah……OK. So, I need to connect to the bike first, and then send the application to the software owner?
You download and run the MelcoDiag app, and once connected to the bike the app will read the relevant ECU data and fill in the blanks. Manually fill in email and other relevant data regarding active lights etc. Once you've done that, click "write report" and it goes automagically to JP, who replies to your email with a small license file. This file you place in the same folder as your MelcoDiag software. Now you connect to the bike again and...voila...now you can do things!
PM me your address and I’ll pop it in the post tomorrow - no post today as it’s a public holiday here in ROI
FYI, this device was brought to my attention a couple of days ago https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/topscan-moto-diagnostic-tool.101348/
Ah feck it….I give up I have the correct 4 pin adapter, downloaded melcodiag successfully, used an elm327 scanner and written the ecu dump and tried to submit it all, to get the licence. Everything connected properly between the bike, the scanner and the software. However, when I tried to submit the application, it didn’t work and the pop-up said that details were incomplete…..either the wrong software or connector had been used! Bike is a 2015 Multi 1200…Any ideas……before I fork out for an OBDSTAR i-scan???
Just get the OBDSTAR mate. I coughed up a few months ago to have it just in case. First DTC this week, diagnosed straight away. You can always sell it again if you move on from Ducati.
I would tend to err towards BMDiag for their support which is excellent. If you have any pre sales questions they're on hand to answer.
I used the software previously to reset the service reminder light on my Desert Sled after I serviced it myself after it was out of warranty. It does work - just make sure you buy the exact cable or bluetooth plug connector recommended - they're not all made the same way, don't buy some cheaper copy, and yes the software doesn't seem all that straight forward, but it does work if you're patient. Also, if you're successful in your endeavours please make sure you at least send JP a little email afterwards to say thanks for all his hard work and enquire how you might send him some beer tokens too?
