Yeah, I can vividly remember seeing Aquanauts in AD window displays. If only we had a crystal ball!! I saw a top drawer one do north of £200k the other day in auction
Yup, bought my Sea Dweller in 94. Got a 10% discount for cash. Paid £1830 IIRC. I’ll have to dig out the receipts…
Paid 4.5k sterling for a 1963 5513 7 years ago and they have been in touch twice trying to buy it back. I know that it’s only temporary however the figures are mental
US is a bigger country with more AD’s, but also accept the population is bigger too, but the reductions are greater currently than in the UK. That said, prices have softened (dropped in normal speak), but we won’t see drops to RRP in the short term, if at all, if ever. Ordering one is a bit like ordering a V4 Pikes Peak, but you can get one eventually, or maybe two… The problem was initially private buyers flipping for profit, which started to get AD’s into bother, so I think many just sold them to the trade for a bevvy and made their trouble worthwhile. I wear all my watches, so value doesn’t bother me, and I consider the new 12xxxx series improvements make a fabulous modern watch.
Bugger, bugger, bugger. Caught up with the manager of my local Beaverbrooks, who recently returned from maternity leave. Have you seen this ? she asks. What’s that ? I replied, OMG ! https://www.omegawatches.com/en-gb/...ronometer-chronograph-44-25-mm-31092445001001 Andy
That just looks like a MoonSwatch…. far better off with a ‘std’ manual speedmaster moonwatch professional imho… Surely they have milked the limited edition specials of the original to death by now….
My latest watch is an Apple. Its changed my personal use of watches totally. I could never have guessed this, as I didn't really find the concept that interesting, and they certainly are not classy or stylish by any means (I think it's borderline ugly & plain). Plus I have to keep charging it! But as a useful bit of kit to have with you, its hard to beat. I haven't worn any of my other watches for months.
I missed out on the Mk 1 Apollo moon watch through tightfistedness (and retirement) and regretted it. This Mk2 version is very much to my taste and it looked good on my wrist. My friend Sammy knows me too well Andy
Was in the Rolex shop in Glasgow last week and they had 12 watches in stock that you could buy. Nothing outrageous: between 7k and 30k
Pretty much anything you can actually buy on the day from a Rolex AD, can be bought for less from a grey dealer. And just to add. I’ve had my name down for a JC Deep Sea for over 2 now. I soon got bored of that shite. I bought one in auction for under list last January. Still fully stickered from a collection. AD’s are a waste of time for the serious buyers. It’s all got rather silly imo…
I’ve currently got a Bremont MB2 (orange silver) which I love, it was 3 years old when I got it in 2017 and I think was £1700. however due to Bremont not being a really ‘heritage’ name and then the fact they announced they would be assembling in China, they have pretty much trashed their brand value. that said I would still love a Bremont Jaguar!
Andy. Go big or go home........ Omega Speedster Mission Collection - A series of 23 watches commemorating the Skylab, Gemini & Apollo missions. 50 cases made world wide only 40 for public sale. Each piece was also made in singular versions of about 100-150 Pieces in 1997/8 with exception of the Apollo 13 Mission patch which was made in 1995. That's all I have to say about that...
Bremont Jaguar's will presumably next be available in about three years time, battery only, and in pink.
exactly mate!!! No one will understand the significance of any of the design of that watch by then! The iconic steering wheel, the clock face that’s the rev counter, even the tyre tread in the crown wheel. although I could get an old thunderbirds toy watch and it would be the same as the new jag
