Yeah, I can vividly remember seeing Aquanauts in AD window displays. If only we had a crystal ball!! I saw a top drawer one do north of £200k the other day in auction
Yup, bought my Sea Dweller in 94. Got a 10% discount for cash. Paid £1830 IIRC. I’ll have to dig out the receipts…
Paid 4.5k sterling for a 1963 5513 7 years ago and they have been in touch twice trying to buy it back. I know that it’s only temporary however the figures are mental
US is a bigger country with more AD’s, but also accept the population is bigger too, but the reductions are greater currently than in the UK. That said, prices have softened (dropped in normal speak), but we won’t see drops to RRP in the short term, if at all, if ever. Ordering one is a bit like ordering a V4 Pikes Peak, but you can get one eventually, or maybe two… The problem was initially private buyers flipping for profit, which started to get AD’s into bother, so I think many just sold them to the trade for a bevvy and made their trouble worthwhile. I wear all my watches, so value doesn’t bother me, and I consider the new 12xxxx series improvements make a fabulous modern watch.
