You're also dependent on their seeing it and wanting it in the month of January - that top bike selling month.

Glidofglood Glidofglood riding through the glen , Glidofglood Glidofglood with his worthy pen. About right there mate , good post Gloodie.
its not the s model that i really wanted but will i notice the difference, missing them ohlins already, and what other things will the base model be missing out on ?
I think and this is just my personal opinion that if your in the market for a 749/99 you should source the highest spec bike out there , i.e. an S but preferably an R , these bikes are now 3 generations old , 1098/1198 and the Pani superseding them. Great to look at (I think ) and great to ride , in track trim one off the best handling bike to buy . But if its just for the road and I had to replace mine I'd make it the desirable 749 0r 999 R , or at the very least an 06/7 999s .
If you can stretch to it there is a 749R on ebay at the moment, 2004 with the carbon fairing. I'd be tempted myself if I wasn't already sorted.
MCN what a joke . They weren't saying that when they voted it bike of the year when it first came out . They seem to speak with forked tongue . Formula Xtreme News Item
Model year 05 S model 999 has- Ohlins forks, shock and steering damper. Forged wheels,a bit lighter. Titanium con rods. Listed as having extra 3 bhp. over base model. Ohlins forks are basic ohlins, no better than the showa's in use apparently but the ohlins have a reputation for blowing seals:biggrin:.
I had an earlier model 999S which I traded in for the later 999 Bip. So I lost Ohlins suspension and got Showa instead. Didn't do/haven't done track yet with either, but on the road, there is no discernible difference in the suspension quality that I have ever noticed in some 30'000 miles. The motor of the later bike is as powerful as the earlier S model in any case.
