I would say yours should of been more like this snowflake….….however if as the advert says they are full floaters not semi floater then you can undo the bobbins easily enough anodise the centres and re assemble.. DUCATI BREMBO BRAKE DISC ROTORS SET FULL FLOATERS 748 888 916 996 998 DISCS | eBay
as far as im aware they are the standard items (pretty sure) but the 99 748 appears to be an odd ball when ordering parts.... or is that just all dukes? had a few now and allways get the "hmmm that's strange" when tryin to get bits
Not sure what those discs are but they are similar to the keyhole discs, which do not float. These are 998 discs, no holes only cross lattice. 998 Discs are not full floaters. They look like 748SPS discs which are floating and they are cast iron not steel. These are keyhole discs, again non floater. And finally cast iron 748SPS discs
Lol..... now im even more confused... mine don't look like any of those. they are floating (to some degree, as there is movement in the bobbins ( or are they just f@#ked!?) I always thought they were standard brembo.. don't know if I seen it stamped or just assumed.... Still need black ones though!!!
bike miles away so I cant check.... was hoping to go do a bit tomorrow but gotta mot and tax and insure van.. Need a headlight bulb, tyre and poss catalytic converter.. f-ing gutted and lose a days pay!!! but hopefully next week will see this mystery solved and some progress on my baby. Was hoping to have her fin for my b'day in 4 weeks but its not to be......
Finally got to do work on the bike yesterday, quite productive but was missing a few bits! like the ball bearing from the rear foot rest, 1 stainless bolt from the a foot rest hanger, the stainless mounting bolts for front callipers and the new front brake hoses are to short!!! but still had a great day!!! heres where we are at
yea that worked. which is where I must go now.....to work that is....... will post lots of pics later
Btw the front disks are brembo and there was another 748 with identical in the shop today.. was a w reg
I am loving this build, credit to you for the patience and attention to detail. Out of interest can you get a socket on the sprocket nuts to fully tighten them up? I can't on my renthal quick change and have to tighten them with an open ended spanner, possible design fault. Steve
If you get some full-floating bobbins (STM and others make them) you can cut the rigid bobbins off and fit the floaters for the full rattle-effect. A useful by-product of this is that you can paint/anodise the carriers whilst they're apart. I have STM full-floating bobbins on my Monster's discs; Being alloy they are also lighter than the original steel bobbins.
thanks mate, im more used to butchering wood but I think im doing ok too! Its certainly required a lot of patience so far (something I usually lack) and I've cocked a few things up but along the way It will be worth it!!!! Mines a ducati performance carrier but i think its the same as the renthal i had which i couldn't get a socket on either
Tried replying to you via my phn earlier but didn't appear to work. if it did and im doubling up, apologies all round! Thanks mate , will try and track down some of them there bobbins. Whats the best way to cut em off? Your carriers are the same as mine.... What year is yours? z
Got the hub assembly sorted (as in pics) turned ouy it was the zinc plating I had done that was the prob but some emery paper sorted that. Then got the exhaust, callipers, harris rear sets, 1 rear foot reat hanger and peg (anyone have a small ball bearing) will try and post pics in some sort of order but my laptop seems to be as confused as me most the time one of these should be the speedy moto triple and woodcraft clippons I fitted xmas eve 00586_zpsd4951d71.jpg.html] that's a pot of copper grease underneath... not a pot to catch oil leaks btw... have lost the pin for the brake..
