The pipe needs to be cut 6 mm for the can to fit not the carbon cover? When you fit the can it'll make sense!
Just fitted it this afternoon! Ben was a star making it up and sending in doublequick time...with some options. He was just working from my pics without any accurate dine skins and his solution works perfectly well, but I night just need to bend a bit of the steel he sent to refine it, but can't fault quality and service
If you get a chance I'd appreciate seeing a pic of the stand stop and a side on shot of the system fitted including the end can? Many thanks, Mark
Bout to go the same route. Hopefully time to fit the Leo Vince in May-with a Termi stubby. Interested in the noise levels? Any early views? Leo Vince declaring just 4 decibels increase over original Cat and exhaust at 4500 revs. Have to plan an ECU remap when settled.
W (hadidmax) doesn't say what end can he has fitted but I tried my Akrapovic stubby which is designed for the stock cat the same as your Termignoni stubby and I would say it's marginal. I think the set up is louder than my track 748R that has a 50mm system and race cans and was measured at 101.5db @ 5500rpm when we did a track day at Brands 2 weeks ago. In the fullness of time I will be looking for an end can that has a removeable baffle. Andy
Spoke to Richard (MR) this morning following hadidmax's post to get my 1200s booked in for the same treatment and the way I read the conversation is that Wilf has developed a "plug and play" map, so whilst there may be additional benefits from a custom map using the dyno, you get something that is clearly a huge step forward but without costing an arm and a leg on top of the exhaust system you have just bought which sounds like a brilliant marketing strategy to me. I also understand that the mechanic who took the bike for a test run was well impressed with the performance gains. Got to wait because they are very busy but it's a wait I think is going to be worth it. Andy
Out of interest are there any end cans with removable baffles? Leo Vince used to make them but apparently no more.
Hi Spanish, In my previous Multi a 2010 model I used Mivv Decat with GPR short can, that had a baffle that you can remove. It fits to the standard pipework and looks great. Price around £300 for end can. At the moment I am using a Leo Vince Decat with the Termi Stubby and it sound deeper and not as loud as the Mivv and GPR. Will try to get a sound video for the forum. Cheers, Walid
Thanks for that. Really encouraged. Plan to get the Leo Vince decat fitted with the Termi stubby in next few weeks. I suppose then a trip to Bath for ECU tuning. S'pose a Rexxer tune may not be man enough or possible. Reading Andy's post a change of air filter seems a sensible option at this time?
Yes for sure, I've replaced the standard filter with Ducati Performance one to allow it to breath better. Cheers, Walid
Hi Andy, I've used in the past Mivv in a combination with the following GPR End Can (which has a removable baffle): Ducati Multistrada 1200 Exhaust - GPE Carbonox - Only £299.00 - Moto Legends Distribution Ltd. To be honest the set up was louder than the Leo Vince & Stubby/Termi. Also, Leo Vince now comes with an option for an additional baffle to fit if you need to, see the link below: http://www.motorcycle-exhausts.co.u...FLE_DUCATI_MULTISTRADA_1200_201014_86422.jpeg I hope this helps. Cheers, Walid
Great link Walid, unfortunately I cannot find the part on any web site for sale. Any extra advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Andy
Have discussed the 'extra' baffle with Carol at Moto GB (I access the website by searching Leo Vince UK) and she has only sold one of these to the many decats- the assumption being that noise levels are fine with the standard decat. Also told that this extra baffle can only be used with the OE end can. I cannot see why . The baffle costs approximately £50 so my view would be to give it a try if need more noise reduction when the standard decat is fitted. Has anyone any experience itch using and fitting this baffle?
Spanish, I have just ordered the baffle from BR Special Tuning having finally worked out how to follow Walid's link. It cost £65 including post and packing and my intention is to fit it with an Akrapovic end can so I'll be interested to see why you were advised that it only fits with the OE end can. Hey, push comes to shove, I'll fit the OE end can and baffle for the MoT and draw attention to myself for the rest of the year . Also still need to resolve the issue that the Akrapovic doesn't locate on the decat pipe enough to line up the carbon cover. I know Jaser1 chopped 6mm off his decat pipe but I'm now intreged that the OE end can pipe socket might be different which I didn't look at when I changed over. I'll post progress as things evolve. Andy
Andy Be interested in your progress - whether possible to fit the added baffle to the Akrapovic end can and whether it makes any significant difference to noise levels. Also resolving the fit of the carbon cover- though it may be different with the term stubby can. I presume there is no problem with a centre stand? I am away for 10 days and then plan to fit the Leo Vince on return followed by an ECU tune. .
I have yet to refit the centre stand as my sump guards are off being powder coated but the Leo Vince decat pipe work looks to have got that well catered for so I am not anticipating a problem. I'll keep you posted. Andy
Spanish, Okay, so I have been able to take a closer look at the differences between the OE end can and the Akrapovic end can. As you can see from the pictures (Akrapovic 1st and last, OE 2nd and 3rd), the depth of the "pipe socket" on the OE is a lot deeper than the Akrapovic, 60mm vs 28mm which goes a long way to explain why you need to crop the decat pipe to fit the Akrapovic end can and that there is a lot more space to fit the decat pipe baffle on the OE end can. The sound of the Leo Vince decat pipe work with the OE end can is much deeper and more manly than the stock set up but the Leo Vince decat pipe work with the Akrapovic end can is more manly but refined. They are both loud although I have heard louder so I have decided to not crop the decat pipe work and run the OE end can with the decat pipe baffle for the MoT and events where loud cans would be ill advised and come up with a mod to the Akrapovic clamp so the end can is secured to the decat pipe work and the carbon heat shield fits 2 of the 3 securing points. If you have the Termignoni stubby end can I'd look at the "socket" depth which will be your limiting factor. Hope this helps. Andy
