I had a 996BP previous. But the 916sps I have is a different animal entirely.Much more aggressive power delivery.A touch less right down low but from midrange onwards its absolutely nuts. The sound is a lot different also more raw. I guess this is exactly the same between 1098 base/1198 and a 1098R/1198R corse edition.
An SPS will lift the front on the throttle in 4th, mine would, used to scare me the smash in the face delivery. Not ridden a 1098 yet...suspect I'd want one if I did!
It's lost just over 5kg with the Ducati ally tank, lithium battery, and variety of DP carbon parts. Standard weight is 165kg.
Not being funny bit not whats published. Published is as above. I looked it up Because at 190 hp with 160 kg would be well ahead of most WSBK bikes never mind road bikes! 2009 Ducati Performance 1098R Superbike Comparison - Motorcycle USA Ducati 1098 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Well mines less than that. Mind you I've just had 6kg's of metal lumps fall out during an oil change.... Bah ha ha ha ha ha ha.... etc...
Bradders, even the Wiki link you've posted clearly says the 1098R has a [dry] weight of 165kg. Minus 5+kg and that equals 159kg (+ liquids).
JHP have told me that with a bit of improvement the figures these 1098R bike put out is scary and well above 180. I think the key regardless of a few +/- bhp is in reality does it scare you shitless. If the answer is yes then its a bike I would like to own (if I can afford the running costs). One of the reasons ive held onto the sps for so long. I can confirm bradders is right.Since I had the valve collets replaced on last service the bike has a nack of lifting the front when you don't expect it at a alarming rate.Even with a longer swingarm lol.
